And yet they were just "used cars" once upon a time. When I started driving in 1967 there were plenty of these cars around. I even tried to buy a ratty 1959 Dodge CRL for $300 in that year. Although not yet 8 years old, it already had significant rust issues from the humid Ohio climate. The salesman turned down my offer though.

Hey how about that Lawrence Welk eh?  He can't decide if he likes the Dodge or the Plymouth! In 1958 Dodge was one of his show's sponsors. In 1959 he switched brands to Plymouth because Plymouth was "all new" in 1959. There's even a clip on the 59 Plymouth Fury site that shows him beating the bass drum for Plymouth in an introduction parade of the new car in the Fall of 58. ANd yet what is it we see here? Lawrence Welk is inviting you to test drive the new fulll-size 1961 Dodge with the reverse chicken wing? Boy I'll bet that went over big!

The last picture is a fake!!! I can see it was taken last summer in FinFury57's estate, thats his wife jumping in the water and you can see some of his cars in the background (he calls them "parts cars", yeah right). What you can't see is a huge warehouse stocking all those precious NOS parts, and even some used 57 Dodge parts (which are hard to get from him, I KNOW!).

That fence surrounding the pool is keeping the kids from touching the perfect paint finish of his '57 Plymouth.

You can see Jan sitting under that tree, thinking how he was successfully ice fishing from the pool on last winter (his biggest catch was a ladies bikini top, which he's now wearing himself!).

Groucho Marx was a spokesman for DeSoto for qute a few years but I wonder what this postcard was made for? There are no FL cars shown on it.

Cool pictures but are you implying that Sweden drives on the left side of the road like the English? I thought all the continental countries drove on the right side of the road. Maybe that would explain the quirky Saab.

Well that was something I never knew about Europe in spite of a stint in the Army. I consider it unlikely that there were NO accidents on the day Sweden swopped lanes though. There must have been an old woman driving her Borgward Isabella who never heard the decree and smacked in to some yuppie's Volvo. :laugh:
