Accept for that it is a 1957 Plymouth, I can't really make out the model
It's a large postcard, measuring 14 x 22". On the back side is a stamp saying "SAMPLES not for sale"

That Richfield shot so encompasses my childhood memories ! The cars, the colors, the styles.

Does anyone else remember the Richfield "flying eagle" along US 99 on the south side of Redding,
California ? Or the one that survived (painted over) at Biggs Jct, Oregon well into the 1990's ? And
those gas pumps ! I was fascinated as a kid by the color of the oil as the sunlight passed through it
in the glass jars on the racks by the pumps. The signs were all porcelain enamel. I had no idea what
that was, I just new I was seeing something that was way neater that all the new plastic stuff coming out.
Nothing was restored, nothing was fake or contrived. It was just real life in a workaday world that
would soon vanish.

Wonderful to see these photos ! Thanks guys.

That picture has been posted here ealier, but in a smaller format.
The Silver Special may very well be the same car that Nick Nichols has had for sale but still owns.
His car has spent all its life in SF and 4-door Silver Specials were produced in such low numbers that there weren't many of them on the streets in the same town even back then.
The SS production numbers are not known, but most of them were 2-doors, the 4-door being so rare that even some reputable literature claim that they never made any. I have only seen pictures of the SF car and one in a junkyard..

That place looks like a military building which was converted into a restaurant. I remember when there were apartments here in town which were originally barracks at Nellis Air Force base. The barracks were sold and the new owners moved them to various locations around town. Some were even used by the County Detention Department until funding for a proper jail was available.

Here's a couple more from my negative collection.

I consider '62 Chryslers to be Forward Look cars. After all, wasn't 1955 really "The Million Dollar Look" and 1956 the first year of "The Forward Look"?

Yeah, it's almost getting boring, isn't it?

I really do like that colour street scene you've posted there. Not much Forward Look in it, but so much other stuff that really does bear a close look. The late '40s car to the bottom left, is that an Olds or a Pontiac? And the old green 'bus from the thirties?

And what's the occasion? It really looks like it's a motor race occasion there with all the checkered flags flying... any idea where it is? And would you say it's about 1956?

I think you'll find that you misspoke. The US Navy writing is on the 57 Chebby and not the 57 Furd. It's probably an administrative number that was assigned by the motor pool. Nothing to see here.

I'm more interested in the photo of the Illinois State cop writing a (Speeding?) ticket to the young lovely with a gaggle of old men in the background holding a wire or hose from the cop's 1962 squad car to the fuel filler of the woman's 1964 Oldsmobile converftible. What's going on with that eh? (And what's with the Plymouth dog dishes on the cop car? I thought Chrysler would have used a different design.)

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

You are correct ... brain fart on the 57 Chev / Ford mixup. Yeah, I thought it was a number,
but it was just too fuzzy to tell for sure.

The young lady getting the fill up .... note the sign in the background. This was a PS photo
to let folks know that the ISP would ante up some petrol in the event you ran out of gas. The
cop is keeping "proper" documentation to let his Sergeant know he did SOMETHING during his
shift. The gaggle of guys ? Congressmen and SP brass looking for a photo op. Nothing ever
changes, does it ??? !

BTW - note the visible tail light on the Olds ... that is a 63 top of the line 98 !

I know of some countries here in Europe, you'll get a ticket for running your car dry on the freeway. The underlying thought is that you endanger not only yourself, but others too, by having to stop your car on the freeway, just because you didn't fuel up in time.

This picture of the '58 Savoy with the crashed fin/rear quarter was posted here earlier by SavoyPlaza.
Here's another shot of the same car, both taken in Bremerhaven, Germany.
First time I saw a '58 Plymouth with '66 Mustang hubcaps..

I thought the boy scouts looked forward to going to camp. What a fantastic picture. I looked forward to camp as a scout.

It looks like there's something going on, here. Behind that Plymouth.
With a police officer, or a cab driver? And a mechanic?
The car behind the Plymouth seems to have its hood opened.
I can't make out the Plymouth model, except for that it is a 1958
