Those 'Plodge' transporter photos are great! Although in the photo that features the truck driver, it seems a '58 Olds made it on board amongst the Mopar products.

And thanks Jim, for replacing that blackwall on the '57 Belvedere. If it's not too much trouble, could you change the oil and fill her up so I can take her out this evening?

Here are two photos, the first labelled Fort Collins, and the second unmarked.

It's not such a high resolution photo that that could be read...

Way cool, yeah Doc, you're right about that! Bouth are 4DS cars, the green one is a Windsor or Saratoga - the black one might be a New Yorker, but it's impossible to see from that angle.

Nobody bothered to comment on the Chrysler Royal I posted on the last page... I guess you blokes didn't recognise it...

And in the 'unmarked' parking lot pic above, surprisingly I see a mid-fifties Austin A50 or A55 near this end of the line.

Now what I want to know... is the dark car on the right a '60 Dodge, or am I deceiving myself?

Chicago June, 1958

June 21st, 1958 was the last day for electric streetcars in Chicago. LOTS of photos like this were taken in Chicago during June, 1958. I will have to go through my Chicago slide collection and see if I can find other shots with Forward Look cars.

Now, Austins and Aussie Royals ? Not gonna draw much comment from the U.S. crowd.
Speaking only for this Yank, you blokes got sold a bill of goods with those toady McUglies.

57 Plymouth or that Austin ? Not even on the same planet !

Couple comments .... the Belvedere immediately above is a 1956

..... and look how radically sleek that blue 57 NY'er looks amongst the other cars in front of
City Hall. After 30+ years of playing with FL cars, it still hits me like a brick sometimes just
how wild and new the 57's were in their day.

I can almost hear the pennants flapping in the wind!

In the second NYC photo posted above by Dave, I'm wondering what type lot is that. Surely not a salvage yard? The black '58 looks like a convertible, with bumper 'wings' and a missing hubcap!

Here are two more photos, the first is labelled Little River, South Carolina.
The second is not labelled, but it looks like northern California, just across the Golden Gate bridge perhaps?

Those are some great Philly photos, Dave!

Here are two more photos.
My guess for an explanation for the unhappy bride would be the '60 Ferd honeymoon car, rather than the Dodge wagon!

The second photo speaks for itself!

Toronto in the 50s

At least for the first photo, it is actually the early 1960s. I own a good chuck of this particular photographer's negatives and her first trip to Toronto was in early 1962.

I have a bunch of her Pittsburgh stuff posted in this thread.

Those color shots makes me think I can jump right into the scene and be a part of that world. I was born in 1966, but I sure wish I could go to the mid 50s. I tell people I should have been in my dads generation. He graduated in 1957.

Seen here before, but finally added to the postcard website.
A Postcard with great detail of an incredibly nice filled show room!

On the back, it says Modern Motor Sales Ltd. was located on
1400 - 1406 Dorchester Street West in Montréal, QC
but I just couldn't find that address, that street.
Then I found out that during Quebec’s so-called "French Only" movement in the 1970s,
the Dorchester Street West was renamed Boulevard René-Lévesque Ouest.
By then, Modern Motor Sales was already gone from that location.
The back side of the building still stands.

1959 Dodge Mayfair Convertible, 1959 Dodge Custom Royal Convertible, 1959 DeSoto Convertible, and others at Modern Motor Sales in Montréal, Quebéc
(There's a thread about this Mayfair, here, on the forum)
