Quite unusual color combo on the '57 Plymouth. Looks like Canary Yellow & Ginger(??). I can't remember ever seen that before.

Lots more Edsels in that last set than I ever expected to see. Were they as unpopular as we're often led to believe?

********************************************

I missed the original Edsel sales period, but judging by how many were on the road in the 60's
and 70's and how many survive today, I would say that either they sold a lot of them, or people
immediately realized the novelty and saved them. Where I grew up, a neighbor up the road named
Mr. Casper had a yard full of them. No less than a dozen. This was 1969 to about 1980. By then I
out and on my own. Not sure what happened to them. I remember he had a pair of turquoise
"Round Up" two-door wagons with the wood side treatment in the lot. Now there is a car you never
see, even at an Edsel meet ! Hope they were saved.

The 'boomerang' taillight treatment on the Edsel wagons were their best feature!

Those are some terrific cards, Matt. The Gillette Motel is fantastic, you gotta love the wall-to-wall carpet!

Here are two more photos, the second one featuring the fabulous '61 Plymouth Suburban, but even more odd is the Studebaker Lark taxi!

This is better quality despite the ruler and now I see it's a Royal Lancer without chrome fins and sill mouldings.

Got to agree there... never enough!

So many still frames out of period movies and TV shows would be good too.

But I can't find the turquoise '59 Ford to which the Doc refers. Which motel is it in on this page?

Dave,

Can you post locations for these pix if you have them, please ?

This last one has me scratching my head. I am going to guess it is Portland, O. by the
Mt. Hood Cafe. I wanted to immediately jump to it being Mount Hood, O., but I don't think
that little town has ever supported a Yellow Cab outfit. The bridge looks typical of several
up and down the river, but the Mount Hood bridge is a high bridge. and the town itself is
perched on a pretty steep hill.

I then thought "maybe The Dalles?", but that area never had a bridge like this that I remember.

So, I am back to Portland on a very unusual sunny day with a background that SHOULD
have some hills in it, but maybe foxed out due to lighting conditions ? Cool pic, all the same.

No motel. Both are "Main Street" scenes. The one above is Marshall, MI (?), while the one on

Since I was too late to modify my posting, I was only able to modify the mouse-over photo, which now shows the (complete) Plymouth.

Thanks, again!

How appropriate, a '58 Savoy at the Savoy!!

And that's a fantastic card with the travel trailer, Jim!

The first photo below is a repost, but it goes with the second, as I believe it's the same lady.

At first glance, I wondered whether that would be the Dutch flag, Red, White & Blue.
And then I read the file name: Beatrix in New York. That's our current Queen, Prinses then.

Nice!

Thord, go back and look at that dove gray 55 Dodge vert.....

Dodge didn't build any 1955 Royal convertibles, IIRC.

What IS it; a CRL without the fin caps?

Brent: went back and looked at the two 59 Farts you referenced....one is a 2-dr HT with MoPar-like quarter trim; the
other guy is a 2-dr sedan, with quarter panel 'gills'.

Close, but no Proximity-grenade effect.

Glad you ran recon, Neil. I can hardly bear to look at those ugly POS's after owning a
turquoise Galaxie (wife's car) just like them.

Gives me anger fits still after all these years. What an utter POS car.

One day, I am going to sit down and really think this through and develop and opinion
on these.
