Looking at them from the other side of the Atlantic, they take me back to a time and places I never knew, but always wished I could have seen. Hopefully others will have their own cards or pictures to publish to keep this thread growing!

Location: Parts Unknown | Well, Jim, .... Thank you again for all you've posted, ... and to all the others too. This is my favorite thread ever and puts a smile on my face most every day in a place that just isn't too "smiley". That DeSoto is one to honestly be confused about. It has the Adventurer deck strips and *appears* to have the Adventurer shield where the side trim kicks up .... but it is just shadowed enough to not be definite. However, it also looks to have picked up some added "Sportsman" badging ahead of the gas door, and the Fireflite "wart" behind it. Odd for a car that cannot be more than a year or two old when this photo was taken. I know Bass Lake well and know this location. My Ex's uncle has a cabin there and my own DeSoto has been seen in this very spot. Wonderful place !

Inactive by user's request Location: Las Vegas, Nevada | hemidave - 2011-05-06 12:53 PM Another Birmingham/Glendale AL scene I like this photo. It is proof of what I remember seeing on the streets as a kid. Not all cars on the street, especially older ones in the hands of young adults, were top of the line coupes or convertibles, loaded with both factory options and dealer accessories. Too many people seem to try to reconstruct their earlier life, when their bank account, wife or mother-in-law made them buy that practical Belvedere sedan, rather than a loaded dual quad Fury. BTW, has anyone wondered about the story on that Formal-Black 1960 IMP LeBaron sedan, above, in Birmingham AL? The car looks to be in excellent condition, but by 1968-1969....(according to the fastback roofline on some Poncho/ Boo-ick in the background)....that car would have been considered a 'relic', and almost certainly would not, still, have been owned or used regularly by the RICH business owner who would have bought it, new in late 59/early 60. The grocery store that it's parked-at signifies little, but, whoever drove and parked the car, there, didn't care about the car possibly receiving some (more-) parking lot rash or other damage to it. That 61/62 Crapillack is parked a more-careful distance from the store's entrance (just like where we all park our cars, nowadays!) Edited by d500neil 2011-05-06 5:26 PM

Note the "MEAN" and "REBELLIOUS" looking Merc and Ford with their blackwalls and black rims next to that frumpy old man's 56 Dodge with the dowdy white walls and full wheel covers ... or are those the SUPER SQUARE old futz wire wheels on that thing ? Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | What's really interesting, (to me!), about that 57 Coronet, at Mickie-D's, is that the owner removed the middle-area 'tongues' from the exhaust deflectors---maybe for a look of improved performance---? The car is not a D500 (no evidence of emblem mounting holes on the trunk), but, it's got some decent sized tires on it; maybe 8.50x14". Maybe it's got 3-deuce carburetion, and a worked camshaft, on its Poly 325 engine?

Either that, or he's a well preserved 70-year-old or his daughter is a rough looking 22. My own parents were 20 years apart in age, with my dad 20 years older than my mom, so that's nothing new to me. At their 1955 wedding, their getaway car was a '53 Dodge Coronet. Don't quite see how they could get away that quickly with that fluid-drive semi-auto tranny.

The 1965 Auto-Pack eliminated much of this kind of stuff, but the Meteor soldiered on until the mid seventies, by that time it was using Merc. sheet metal. We still had model name differences etc. Chrysler Canada marketed the Intrepid and Dynasty as Chrysler, not Dodge in Canada.
