Miracle Mile, there's also a '60 Chrysler in that photo and a Fiat for Ray.

*********************************************************

There is a 58 Plymouth fin poking out just ahead of the 50-ish Plymouth too.

Yeah, that Fiat oughta get Ray all lubed up !

That isn't Miracle Mile, Miracle Mile is on Wilshire, between La Cienaga and Highland, about a 2-3 mile stretch of LA in its hey day.
The picure above is downtown LA, Broadway at Olympic. I'll see if I can get a modern day pic of it.

And Knotts Berry Farm, best fried chicken dinners outside of Belgrade Nebraska!

Yeah, and that 59 Belvie(?) wagon, in L.A., looks like something got 'caught' between its tail gate and its upper-bumper
area.

1960 Windsor?

Right on Jocke - the single chrome side moulding was standard on Saratoga and Windsor - and the Saratoga was not offered as a convertible in 1960.

Also, check my comments to the Assembly Line picture in page 57 - might interest you.....

Doc, when I was a kid, having a fried chicken dinner at Knotts Berry Farm was real special. The best fried chicken dinner I ever had was actually at Coffee Creek Montana, when my ol' Aunt Suzie cut the head off a chicken right in front of 10 year old me and cooked it up for dinner that night. Kind of surprised me. Keep in mind the Desoto was parked in the front as we were vacationing and stopped at Aunt Suzie's farm.

Which takes me to Belgrade Nebraska. Actually trout stories abound, but fried chicken was out of this world. Something about that sizzling sound in a iron frying pan, mashed potatoes and green beans served at a family table, everybody chowing down.

Knotts Berry Farm, here in SoCal, served up chicken dinners with plenty of fixings as good as anything I had as a kid in Nebraska. Or Montana. On vacation. In the Desoto. Top down. Cowboy hats. Trailer in tow.

Keep those pictures coming, the memories are fading!

An Anglia in that San Francisco pic!

I think the '57 DeSoto on the left is a convertible, there is a '59 DeSoto across the road too.I think the Anglia was going for a mini '58 Plymouth look,at least the sportone, fins and tailights (the roofline is pure Lincoln Mercury style).

*********************************************

So, you were referring to the "World Famous Gidman Fried Chicken Stand" in Belgrade, Nebraska ?

I was thinking perhaps I had missed an out-of-my-area Googie era icon like Bob's Big Boy or Ship's.

Does Knott's still do the chicken dinner gig ?

I saved on of the photos you posted to my computer at home of your Dad and the DeSoto with trailer.
I think you noted it was taken in Montana. What a unique perspective to a car like ours you have !

Decided to Google Coffee Creek. I know western Montana pretty well, but the name wasn't clicking. So,
old Aunt Suzie liked living in the middle of NOWHERE, did she ? !!!! WOW ! That is a long way from even
a small city ! Beautiful out there though. I am sure it was magical as a kid.

That is a Firedome (note no "V" badge over the upper side trim bar on the fender),
as well as low rise back glass.

Note also the EXTREMELY rare dog dish hubcaps and body colored wheels !

Very unusual DeSoto !
