I don't know... The photo was like that when I found it. It looks almost like a poor photoshop attempt, now that I look closely. Perhaps the original photo was damaged and someone tried (poorly) to fix it.

As mentioned, you are correct, though if it was new when that photo was taken it will be a 403B (which came with the taller rear axle ratio and no overdrive in the gearbox.

Further down, the Post Office at Alma, Quebec photo has really surprised me, who on earth would own an Austin A30 or A35 in the Americas? And is the red car towards the left a Vauxhall Victor?

These photos continue to delight everyone, clearly, but could the guys who post the really big ones please reduce the size to maybe 750 pixels wide as a maximum? This would make the whole thread easier to read and let us see the whole pic without scrolling from side to side or up and down.


Yes, the red one one the far left does look like a Vauxhall Victor.

The small Austin A30/A35 was popular as a car to get around town. Same with the Morris Minor, although a friend of mine went for a trip across the prairies back in the late 1960's. Just consider the Austin A30/A35 as an early Mini - small, easy on gas as well as to drive and park. Even came as a 4-door sedan (4 very small doors!).

Location: Norcross (Atlanta area), GA		Legendary film actress Elizabeth Taylor (1932-2011) won her very first Oscar with this movie, Butterfield-8, from 1960. Many FL cars in this film but they are buried amongst the various GM and Dorf brands, however a '60 Imperial LeBaron sedan and '59 Plymouth Savoy taxi are seen prominently. Ms. Taylor's character is killed off at the end of the film by the crashing of her British Sunbeam Alpine sports car, although Rootes/Sunbeam will become more of a household name as that company was purchased by Chrysler and its cars became associated with the Get Smart TV-series, as the 60s came to a close. With this film, we see Forward Look cars, an up-and-coming Euro sports car icon, and one of Hollywood's best actresses earning her first major award. RIP, Liz, you've earned it.
