1960 300F... photo caption in the article I got this from says that's Bill France, Jr. with the flag. The car is likely the one assigned to Tom McCahill for the Daytona Beach Speed Trials; you can't tell for sure, but it looks like Uncle Tom's profile at the wheel.

What the f*!

Where did you get those pictures?!
Pretty unique, so many from our tiny spot on the globe ...

I found them from Dutch forum called as "amerikaanseautopagina", under its thread "Yanken in de 70's in Nederland". I don't understand the language a bit, but the pics..

Btw, tell me what gizmo that '58 Dodge had at the front of the license plate? A hook in front of car?? This car had also unique round lamps over headlights. May be also side blinkers like ponton Mercedes (I'm not sure)?

The 56 Windsor is a limo version. I didn't think they would stretch a base model for that.

Love that Minnesota picture!!
That's got to be the Richard Bong Memorial bridge, I believe
Taken from the Duluth side looking across to the Superior WI side.

Bong was a famous WWII p-38 pilot that was in on the Yamamoto shoot down mission.
Survived the war and went into the test pilot program where he died in a plane crash.

Dave S.

It is an amazingly clear shot and looks as if you were there, thanks for identifying the location and history. The '56 New Yorker is in an unusual tri-tone Brown/Black/White,never seen those colours before.

A wonderful picture. Thank you very much. I like this tri-tone combo very much! It looks very valuable. I don't know if this 56 New Yorker survived somewhere. Is it possible that this tri-tone combo was a special order (outside the standard tri-tone combos available for the St. Regis)?

Happy Motoring!

Although the white roof looks a little "bright" against the more formal gold and
black, 56 WAS the big year for tri-tone paint, and it appears someone decided to
get a little wild and put white on that roof. I am far more impressed with the 1959
Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 in the lavender metallic and white with that solid glass turret
roof ! Even the low-line Dynamic 88 with dog dishies looked like a high dollar car in
this trim !

Or is that a Super 88 ? Either way, a striking car.

WOW! Thank you very much! Makes me remember those days very well. And I know almost all the locations shown.
I wasn't very much aware of 'Amerikanen' yet, but did notice them as being gigantic cars that were usually asocial parked, because of their deviant size as opposed to our local cars.

I thought that there was something strange with this photo from Holland. It is a 59 Chrysler coming out from the gate, but the car in forward is a 1960 DeSoto
4 Door Sedan. The belt line trim and the fins points out DeS.

That place through the gate is "The Grand" Hotel, smack bang in A'dam centre, right across from my local pub, it's the most expensive hotel we have, I think the name refers to the starting price per night....

Sven,I'm thinking they are all '59 Chrysler Windsors probably a fleet belonging to "The Grand".If you look close it has the '59s pillars.
