Now what does this picture remind me of? Didn't Arnie buy a car like this from a guy in a wife beater t-shirt?

Bourbon Street

According to a friend of mine who is intimately familiar with the French Quarter, the photo shows the downriver side of St. Louis Street between Royal and Chartres. The power lines are down by the river. I found it in Google Earth. The angle is slightly different, but the street is much like it was then.

Jack S. Kotschack arrives to the "Riksdagshuset", Stockholm, Sweden, in his white Chrysler Saratoga for to receive the official "death penalty" for the free pirate radio station "Radio Nord". Both the radio station and Jack are since long gone, buth the car still exists. Anyone here who knows who owns it today - great history there!!!!

Actually Jocke, the Chrysler '59 was kind of an "inbetween" model and was never exhibited on any show

I've got a print of this image (spendy...); anyway, this car was built (Prototype?) without the CRL standard-equipment roof
molding on it.

This car also looks like it was built without undercoating; note the bare wheel well.

My father had a new 57 CRL in all white, with the blue interior.

Today, the auto shows feature shapeless, featureless people of questionable sex to neither draw nor
attract attention to the dull and characterless cars.

I wonder what the story was behind Joe Friday's LAPD badge number appearing on the license plate of this FoMoCo product? I don't remember seeing Dragnet in its first showing so I don't remember who sponsored the show, but maybe it was a hint that Joe Friday usually drove plain jane Ford cars. (Mainlines, etc. )

You guessed right! Jack Webb always drove Fords in all of the original 1951-1959 Dragnet Tv episodes as well as the 1967-1970 remake with Harry Morgan as his partner.

A sad angle on our favorite period of TV and movies was the car company sponsorship
that would make just about every car in the film of only one make. Of course, this is fun
when it showcases something you like, but the tedium of boring Fords was ponderously
heavy in the late 60's and early 70's. I watched Dirty Harry a while back and was reminded
of the "groovy" mood music and how some supply contract made it look as if every car on
the road at the time was a Ford.
