Expert Posts: 1488 Location: New Castle PA | Dod, on the '57 DeSoto headlight buckets, I think I mentioned this once before, but Wayne Graefen's definitive book on 1957 DeSoto Adventurer restoration says "...also, some cars built prior to February had argent painted headlight buckets." Under what should be semi-gloss black, it says " Headlight buckets on all cars of all colors except as previously noted under 'argent'." I don't know about any other series -- perhaps this applies only to Adventurers, and since they were released late for market impact, there certainly would be very few earlier than February. In my opinion, All 1957 DeSotos ought to have the black headlight buckets. Leave the argent ones for 1958.

Being a 58 guy, I have plenty of those Argents dudes around. They would stand out against a white painted fender. I know the 300's got body color on the nacelles. Perhaps this is an early owner modification ?

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Going back to Brent's questions about that Adventurer's headlight area painting---Doc, that car may well be a Prototype where the factory later decided (for what-ever reasons) not to body-paint that area, but to do-whatever-they-did-do to them, in their actual production. Just my SWAG. That 59 Coro vert, above, looks like an actual production model. However, beyond its spinner wheel covers and white wall tires (which might just be dealer-owner installed)---and, MAYBE, its lower side molding (there are Coronets I've seen, with NO lower side moldings on them----altho that lower molding might have been standard equipment on the Coro verts; dunno----this car appears to have few, if any options on it. It is the standard single-color; the glass is plain; no radio and no outside mirrors on it; no hood or side ornamentation. The spinner wheel covers on a Stripper vert is unusual.

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | That D500 sure looks white, to me---the white color could have almost any interior combination; what colors do you think the interior has? Heh; just noticed that the Adventurer, at the top of this page, appears to have under-inflated tires on it. Edited by d500neil 2012-04-23 11:36 PM

Expert Posts: 1363 Location: Apeldoorn, Netherlands | I have a postcard with a car I cannot really identify. Some help will be appriciated. To me it seems like a 1959 Plymouth and I thought it would be a Fury because of the badge on the fin. But the badge appears to be red white and blue, not like the Fury badge, I think. Expert Posts: 3480 Location: Montreal, Canada | D500Jim - 2012-04-27 1:25 PM 1959 Plymouth Belvedere Hardtop at the Park Lane Hotel in Medicine Hat, Alberta (Plymouth ForwardLook postcards) Judging by the shape of the front fender, the front bumber and what we can see of the hubcaps, that's a Dodge Mayfair.

Anybody any idea? could be a "customised" Sport Fury badge or maybe a Perkins Diesel badge.

Anybody any idea? That looks like a Plymouth Belvedere to me. The rear end of the side trim is too wide to be a Fury. The red and blue on the badge must be created by the postcard colorization process. It's probably a normal Belvedere logo.
