Expert 5K+ Posts: 7207 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | d500neil - 2012-05-26 12:04 PM In 1959, did Plymouth really offer a 2-tone treatment, where the commodious appendage would be painted in the second color? The '60 vert is lacking that feature, on it; thought that it was standard equipment on the Furys ("Good taste is never extreme"). The Plymouth toilet seats were a bolt on affair, so if someone ordered one over the parts counter I suppose it would have come in basic "White" which would go with any color of car. As to the Imperial and Chrysler models, the toilet seat as you call it, ( I prefer "bird bath" ) was pressed into the deck lid, in fact it was a completely different deck lid. However on my own Chrysler, the area inside the chrome ring has been painted a contrasting color to match the roof and side spear, which was a not factory offering, but I like it and am gonna leave it that way! The color is fantastic. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% I agree. I REALLY like Ian's car .... right up to that toilet seat ! If it were my car, THAT would have to go ! I like the indented stripe much better. But since it IS Ian's car, I just have to razz him about it ! It really is a striking example of a 60 Chrysler.

"COMMODious" appendage = toilet seat I don't know if they were optional on all models of 59 Plymouths but I would imagine they would be an easy install since they were a bolt-on job complete with a rubber edge around the perimeter. Actually I prefer the term "Continental Tire Outline"

I agree that the deck lid is more sleek with the indented center section on the lid BUT this one certainly garners lots of attention and is often a focal point of discussion!

Extreme Veteran Posts: 452 Location: Southern California | That daly City photo is really something...from the sepia tone, the edge curvy, the look of our gentleman, suit and tie, nonchalant attitude, waiting for the attendant to pump his .22 cent gas, the air pump, the gas pumps, the Blue Chip Stamps(!), and the beautiful beast he is so proud of. it all rings of Krushev, pre-Sputnik, Eisenhower confidence in an America that is long, long cherished and well remembered. Did anyone ever really get a bomb shelter? this sh!t is worth a fortune! Ah bliss...!
