Could also be a 1958, but the color scheme suggests a 1957. Model not identifiable, except that it clearly is a 2-door Lancer.

Jim, that's probably a 57 Coronet HT, there; it looks like it has black end plates on the fins, and no "V" emblem
on the decklid, both of which are features (supposedly) only on the Coros.

Some Royals have been found to have the black end plates on them, but "all" Royals have that "V" emblem on them.

So, you can assuredly call this car a Coronet model.

Jim, can you or somebody photo-chop out the doorway, the parking meter, and the car in front of the IMP, in your postcard?

It would be an incredible composition with those 'elements' removed from it!

That probably can be done, but would be too much work. I've already restored the lighting and did some cleaning. Here's the original.

I am proudly confuser-illiterate; but, I've seen my Verizon-pusher retouching photos, by simply moving-around desired/good-quality
areas of a picture over an offending or defective portion of an image, to remove that 'bad' area from the fake-photo.

Your image would be relatively easy (for someone who knows how to do it) to photo-chop, including removing the parking meter,
as seen through the windshield.

Gasperetti's ! Now that brings back some memories. That was quite the place to eat in the 50's and 60's
and even into the 70's. Not sure it they are still around, but that was a Seattle institution for years ! Other
Googie type upscale eateries were The Canlis and Domani's. I think Domani's is gone, but The Canlis is still
the epitome of mid-century modern, outstanding food and atmosphere, and the obligatory piano bar. Plan
on spending four to five hundred dollars on a dinner for two. But wow ! It is an experience.

Did someone say "Canlis" ?

Nice place.

In fact, I've kept a fairly large collection of images for my Mid Century Modern dream house.

THIS building's features encompasses almost all of the design elements that I would like to have in
'my' house.

The only primary feature that is missing, from this design, is integrating my 10 car garage (with
fully stocked mechanical maintenance facility) into it.

(Note how the roof-window --and bearing walls--support design has changed---in the upper photo, the roof is very poorly supported;
that has be 'rectified' with the additional supports, as per the night time photo.

When the DeSoto was freshly finished, a trip was made to Canlis. Valet parking is mandatory.
I wasn't too happy with turning anyone loose with my car. The electronic kill switch was initiated,
and the car was still there in the porte cochere when we were done with out evening. I don't think
they tried real hard to get it out of the high visibility slot.

Speaking of Mid-Century modern homes, ( I'm more of a traditionalist myself) but I always loved the Mt. Rushmore House in the 1959 Hitchc0ck movie "North by Northwest", ( which I consider one of the best movies of all time!) . However I just recently read that the house was a complete fake. Looks like a Frank Lloyd Wright design though,.

======================================================= Correct. It was a mock up. Helluva design, and if the Missus has her way, I'll be building something like that when I get home. The girl has mid-century madness !

When do you get home? It's like you've been away for over two years now!

I HAVE been away for over two years now ! Staying on to pay for a Plaza restoration. Doubtful I will still
be here in Oct., but I have no hard plans. It's time, but I get my head so into the mission that the days just
slip by. I keep thinking something will happen that will cause me to just say "That's it!" and pack it in. That
hasn't happened yet.

Doc, you need another trip to Australia before you head back to Indian Trail country.

I'd like to take about 2 years to "vacation" in Oz. THEN make up my mind if I want to go back to the states.

Davenport today.

That's close, real close. Not even Google Earth thought about taking that current picture off the truck-eating railroad overpass bridge at West 5th over Main Street, where the original was shot. I never thought about doing that either, and it's kind of hard to get up there unless you do a lot of walking. Don't drive your 18-wheeler through there, that bridge will eat your truck!

Been a long time since I last saw that thing. Refresh my memory of what it is.

Wouldn't this be something to see in the contemporary Populuxe paradigm of 1958 !

One can see where Plymouth got the reverse curve of the wheel opening.
