I found some more nice pics in the online archives I searched a while back. Many nice FL cars in there. All the scenes are from the Riviere-du-Loup, Quebec, Canada area.

And still some more... I really wonder where some of these cars ended up. There's even a 1958 Desoto convertible in there!!!

What year/make is that all-white vert (57 CHRY?), and what color might its top be--too light to be black.

It's got all-clear glass in it.

The white convertible is the 1958 Desoto I was talking about. The door panel pattern shows it's a Fireflite model.. one of a little more than 400 made! As for the top color, I don't know. Blue?

B/G 61... you can get a better result with your digital camera doing those pics...

It looks to me like you've used flash or taken those under a light, hence the reflections. Digital cameras are much handier than scanners, but you really need to do it right, put the pic on the floor outside in daylight, but not in the sun, then square up the edges of the pic in your frame and shoot. Set the lens at about mid-distance (not telephoto, not wide angle) for best results.

You are right - I was going to scan them, but I just snapped the pics with my cell phone - I was
more interested in gettin decent pics of the cars/parts of cars than my Uncle . . . OR his socks !!!

The digital camera is a very good alternative to the scanner, but you need to use it correctly...

If it's a dull paper with no gloss at all, you can use lights or flash. I do a lot of it because my scanner no longer likes the rest of my computer software. It does make copying old prints a real breeze when you get the hang of it.

I can't get that size pic out of any of my cell phones, but I principally use phones for phone calls, lots of 'em, and I always carry a camera. I also use a card reader on my computer to save time when uploading pics, they're cheap (check eBay...) and quick and don't eat camera battery.

Is this a badge on the rear quarter of that 1960(?) Plymouth? Or is it the gas filler opening?

Does it indicate a model?

The Sport Fury got those giant "bullseye" targets on the rear quarters starting in 1959. Matches the

I think that it was more of a 'roundel' than a bullseye.

Check out the comparison profiles of the 60 PLY against the 60 Chubster in the image.

Not much similarity, compared with today's cars' interchangeability..

Thanks for the clarification on the Plymouth above!

Although it's almost too small to see (makes me wonder sometimes why I buy them...), here's a 1957 Dodge Lancer at the Southland Motel & Restaurant in North Lebanon, Tennessee

Thanks for putting up all these neat photos guys. It's a really a cool experience to see all the different color configurations of the different body styles. I think it would have been quite something to see all these cars around back then.

Well, that's a nice way of saying thanks for taking the time for posting!

I didn't post any addresses because I don't have them and don't know them. The postcards are not from my own personnal collection, as I found them in online archives.

I thought people would like to see them anyway, but now I'll think twice before posting again.

I agree. No wonder, if you have taken a peek at my postcard webpage.

And of course thanks for all the posts without any location too!

Reason why I really appreciate a location/description very much is that it makes it a whole lot easier to find the same postcard on eBay. 'cause besides driving Forward Look, collection Forward Look postcards is what I do too!

It's allright guys, I got the message.

I understand why you prefer having the addresses and I like to compare to today's locations too... I just find it a bit odd that this understandable preference goes as far as prefering not seing the pics at all than having them without the precise location!

As I said earlier, I won't contribute to this thread anymore, as I don't have the addresses to most of my old pics.

it is not problem soiouz, we appreciate any entry, love to see this cars, but is also a great relief to see the most of the times the unchanged location where that particular car once was.

Ok, so here's one I got the address for: Motel Homeric still stands at 6080, boulevard Wilfrid-Hamel, L'Ancienne-Lorette, QC G2E 2H7?

Here's the vintage pic with a nice 1957 Plymouth with bumper wing guards:

Nah, David; keep em coming---whenever a pic's location happens to be known, that is a good piece of
information to have, to help understand the area of the photo's image.---Also, knowing the location
of the PC helps certain of us to refine an evilpay Search, in trying to obtain another issue of that PC.

This is worthy of another thread (ESPECIALLY if the mods had taken my/others' advise, and had created a "FWDLK
LIFESTYLE" message board---), but, one of the best things about a real cafe, such as Irene's, above here, and
another one, from my mis-guided youth, in my daddy's hometown of Carrollton, IL: Day's Cafe, is...the way
that they SMELL, of decades of comfort food preparation.....

It appears that the Jim Clark dealership just took in a 1954 DeSoto Coronado, the limited edition Spring Special which was a Firedome 4 door sedan with a unique color combination, special matching leather interior and added trim items

There is a story that the factory made 10-12 1954 Coronado 2 door hardtops with distribution to the zone managers. Now that would be a rare find.

This is my Granmother standing in front of a Canadian Plodge wagon.Looking at the picture and the width of the C post it must be a two door eh? Looks like its beige or eggshell white with a blue roof,V8 and has Ontario plates. It may be a Regent as it looks trimless .My nanny lived 99 years...passed away in 2002.

I know I'm late on this, but those are not Ontario plates. They are 1958 Quebec plates. Was your grandma in Quebec at the time?

Thank you everybody who put ancient pictures to this thread. I appreciate all the pictures very much. These will give me an impression how life was going on 50 years ago - at least a little bit. From few of these pictures it's clear why cars from that decade are looking like they are today (dirty cars, gravel roads turning to mud after a heavy rainfall or after the winter season has passed).
Happy motoring!
Dieter

Has anyone ever seen a 1958 Plymouth in that 'purple' (lavender) color, of that Belvie, in Soiouz's 13th (last-) postcard
image, of 6/4/10, up above here?

If so, what was the official name of that shade?

Never seen that color, before.

I think the photo was "colorized" to give it pazzaz. Might really be a boring color like Silver or white.

Hello,

I'm Emmanuel from Paris, France.

So sorry for my bad English and all the mistake I will probably make...

All the last postcard posted are from my personnal collection.

You can see 200 of it here : http://www.flickr.com/photos/facelstang/

I've got 860 postcards with only 57 or 58 Plymouth...

Actually, I'm ok to share or exchange some with pleasure

Thank you for all the nice documents you've posted

Regards,

Emmanuel
