I had similar thoughts, like this must be their secret meeting place.

Looks like the neighbor got his windows painted with the rest of the house !

Street is all built in, but has not been paved yet. Odd photo.

It's obviously a relatively new development, definitely upper Mid West suburban-looking, as seen by the freshly planted tree right in
front of him, and by the appearance of the adjacent houses' having uniform, immature, foliage around them.

You can see that the curbs were recently installed.

Three new(?) looking cars in the photo.

His house may have been very recently built.

Notice how the grass is always greener on the other side of the property line (past the telephone pole).

========================================================

Everything looks new, except the style of the houses, which look very "military base" (1958) or
Levittown (1946) to me. Whatever it is, it captures a brief moment before things weathered in or
got updated.

Sure is...checked out the corner on Google Maps, as the hotel & street lights are still there (minus 1)......streetcars are gone

I am taking a break for my usual smart ass posting to say that this so cool! I really wish I had more time to look at the photos, and thanks to everyone who has posted. Not having much luck getting my kid to look at the places we have been, then and now, but one day.

realgone58 - 2014-02-14 5:47 PM Supposedly Salt Lake City, UT ski team transportation.

You are correct, although I think it is a ski shuttle from the air port to the resorts, I have seen photos of vehicles set up like that before and that was what they were used for. But the photo is down town SLC west side. My Grandfather worked for Standard, I have been to the shop in the back ground as a young lad,  before it was removed for something “better”

I'm amazed at the clarity of some of these photos in particular the color ones, it makes you feel like you are actually back in those days and you're the one taking the shot !!!

Next closest thing to a time machine I guess ??

I am guessing that some of those super clear photos are slides.

I wish I had taken more slides when I was a kid. I didn't like them because
they were a pain in the butt to display. Setting up the projector and all.

Snaps in a book were much more convenient.
