This car (way up this page)...has the standard Eggshell colored wheels that were installed on the 1957
Dodges, except for the cars that had the small 'dog dish' hubcaps on them.

Altho this photo would appear to represent a brand-newly bought car (hasn't had time to install the Spinners, yet,
and he's got the 'boot' installed, for the portrait of his purchase, in maybe 50-degree weather) there is some wear
and tear (rust?), already, around its lower rocker area, and this photo was probably taken in early Spring (the
ground is saturated, the trees have no leaves and no budding-out).

The top-boots are always matched to the interior scheme, and not to the main-body-color, or to the top's color,
so this ride has the gold/black interior in it.

You must have some real eagle eyes to be able to tell that's "wear and tear and rust" rather then a very light crust of dried salt or mud from the wheel spray (or even unbuffed dried wax) on the 5 mile drive over from the Dealer's lot.You can see the wheels have been thru one or more shallow puddles.

...That's rust.

Grew up in Toledo; seen my share of it.

Dirt/debris depositions would show distinctive spray patterns along the lower areas of the car.

That's Pure Bred Hydrated Ferric Oxidation going on there....the photo's background reveals that the
locus was not in the Desert Southwest, but, in the Rust Belt, too.

This photo could easily have been taken in 1958(+), and that was a used-car purchase.

With respect to the 57 Dodge convertible and also the 56 NYer above, they are both from the Buffalo area

New York used to profile license plates by major city/county from the 30's well into the 70's. Buffalo would use B, BU or BF. Erie County would have E, EC or ER. My uncle who lived in Buffalo had 6B-614 as his plate number thru the 60's

For 1958 the plate was yellow with black numbers/letters. For 1959 a black tab with 59 in yellow was used on the rear plate (only) over the 58

For 1960 the plate was black with yellow numbers/letters etc

The Dodge has a yellow plate indicating it is at least the spring of 1958 (or 62 for the next cycle of colors) Can't tell if the Dodge in the background has the 59 tab which would make the picture spring 1959

The NYer is also from Erie County (2E-xxx)plate is from 1960. There were A & Ps in the area in that timeframe and Super Duper was new to the area in the early 60's

Do we have a location for this one ?

Looks like the market and cleaners on the corner of Main St. and 108th Ave. in Bellevue when
I was a kid. There was a service station just off camera to the right. B.C. Hawk Dodge was two
blocks over on 106th. I remember watching some great cars get unloaded off the trucks there !

You're absolutely right. These were taken in the upstate NY area and some in and around Buffalo, all in 1960.
I posted another pic of the NYer at Niagara, on May 27, 1960.

I heard the Super Duper stores are gone completely today.

That's a great pic guys ^^^ Through the years, we have spent many weekends cruising the back roads of NH, ME, and VT.

=======================================================

It still is. What an embarrassment !

Is that Gidman's car ? Can't be a lot of surviving black and white examples still around in 84.
I see palm trees. L.A. ?

It can also be found on 'our own' postcard website,

1959 Plymouth Belvedere at the Kancamagus Highway, White Mountains, New Hampshire:

With the exact location found!
