I happened to be driving by Boyd's shop last week and decided to stop. I talked to the guy that was able to get the window down. He told me that boyd and and himself had caught some nasty mold spore from handling the car. It took them about a month to get rid of the illness. Just was really interesting hearing him talking about the event.

Hoorah; altho I doubt whether the Boydster ever got within a 10-foot-pole length of the car.

That's what his employees are for; he's hardly a hands-on type of guy, but, maybe, the car reached out and TOUCHED him!

Andrew & Mark shipped the car to Ozzie-Land, but its present whereabouts is unknown, to me.

I'll try to remember to PM him, and have him give us a report on the car!

Was this car customized or rodded out?

What did they do to it? I've never heard about this car.

Brandon: you can see the car in the first few pics on this thread.

It is just a sweet mostly-original 61 Newport 4-dr sedan, with a 2-bbl 361, but, it drives and handles great.

It's also very comfortable to ride in, as CHRY finally got the interior accomodations dialed-in, by 1960-1961.

Great highway mileage, too; over 17-actual, fill-up-to-fill-up at 65mph+.

I'll make a note to write to Andrew, tonite!

Just got a PM from Andrew: "Hi,Neil, thanks for the message. I drove the '61 around for a few months before selling it to a friend.

I gave the car a good detail, and put on the full wheel covers and wide white's [ as seen in a pic, which I'll try to have Cleeve
post here, via PM to him].

She is still going strong and is driven regularly.

I'm not registered on the FL forum site, but I'm happy for anyone to contact me, privately, if you wish to pass on my email
details.

The Car seems Real Shiny, And Andrew said said he Detailed it, so Presumed Re-paint , From Memory i thought the Paint was Thin in places..

" Them-there's the orginal paint molecules " ... I have a PIC which suggests it Has had a Paint over in it,s Life... Actually YOU sent me the PIC.. It is the UnderHood Pic.. And you can see the Line where it was Masked Off, So paint didn,t go on the Inner Fenders..

You'd be surprised what a good hand buffing can do with the finish - I'd bet that's what Andrew meant.

Nah, I'm talking with concerns to the original, baked-on paint finish - hand (not machine) buffing really does wonders with it.

Hell, close attention with Meguiars old #3 made the '59 Fury 2 door hardtop I was in the procees of buying in '96 look like a Christine self-transformation with the original black paint on either side of both fins - the gloss was unbelieveable on formerly oxidized paint. To do it, you'd better pack a lunch and joint lubricant, but the resuls are definitely worth it.

I read this and the first thing that pops into my mind is that kid that was playing in that belvedere poop in the vault. Remember the one looking for 2 ball point pens? He was in there for hours. Wonder what kind of illness he got? http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f310/Larry57savoy/Tulsa035-1.jpg

Oh well, at least he threw me and ray some chunks of the vault.  I also got some rust.  I planted that stuff with the concrete and I got little gold belvedere buds so far.

I wonder how that KID got permission to go down into the vault?

He probably doesn't apreciate how FEW people ever got down, into the vault (post-1957) !

What's he doing, there? Dancing on the grave, of the car?

Just for general information, I'd like to bump-up this, and the "Tulsarama Who's Who" threads to the top of
