Now I know who won the e-bay auction!!

I've never seen them. It appears they replace the regular sun visor. They were likely a stealership option.

I have them on my 1958 DeSoto Firedome. They came with the car. I'm the third owner, so I'm guessing they were installed when the car was new.

They were a factory accessory. They are listed on the build sheet.

Thanks for the info, I removed the original, like the instuctions said and installed the drivers side it looks great and solves my problem of the rotten cardboard sunvisors on a 58 dodge that can not be duplicated, the pass side tinted visor is missing its mirror. I will have a custom glass shop that is going too replace it. they did my side mirrors after rechroming. I assume it was just a plain mirror without forward look logo?

On the bag of this sun visors, they wrote about "the corrugated steel friction spring"

I have those tinted plexiglas sun visors, and they don't hold enough, - they twist by itself. So I think that "corrugated steel friction spring" is missing. Has anybody a picture about it.....or something on stock.
I also miss the mirror for the sun visor....can anybody help

The tinted visors that are in my car are slightly different, but it seems that they came from an FL car of some sort; a fabricator had to make the entire mount that attached them to the roof of the car to achieve the correct fit-angle (he did a great job). They do stay up against the headliner when driving. I'm too short to make them useful as visors, so I just wear good sunglasses.

I got them for a good price because the "plastic" was very wavy and distorted. So we cleaned and polished the frames really well, and replaced the plastic with two very thin sheets of plexiglass with a piece of regular green window tint film sandwiched between them. The colour of the visors isn't exactly the same as the originals, but close enough.

Here is a photo with the very bright shop lights shining into the front of the car. They aren't really that bright green in real life.

thanks Rosy for the description and picture.
"Mine" came with the car, and I miss that fabulous spring as I wrote above.
I don't really want to use the sun visors, but it would be a good thing if the stay up near the headliner by themself

My 57 D500 came from the factory equipped with those sun visors which surprised me when I read the build sheet. Safety Visor/Vanity mirror I was thinking they were an after market item but this info states factory order. Sorry I tried to provide a screen shot/pdf to view but I see you have click on the link to view

Tinted (shaded) visors were coded on the body plates for both 57 and 58 Dodges.

Nice find!! I've only ever seen one pair.

Tom, if I remember, when I next go to my garage, I'll try to see if MY tinted visors have that mysterious spring. I don't recall that they do, but if so, I'll take a picture for you.

Tom, I took a picture of that spring. No worries, as you can surely make it yourself. As soon as I can get it off of my phone I'll upload it here. It's just a strip of spring steel, about 2" long and 1/4" wife, with an extra 1/4" L-bend at the end. There are a few "ridges" along the length which you'll need to bend in.
