Sorry, Justin, but, if you get your car's IBM card-copy from Chrysler's Historical Society, you can make educated guesses about the P/T plates coding (e.g.: there might be several instances of number-repeats on the P/T plate and/or on the IBM copy, and the three small-big numbers on the P/T plate will not correlate to the three-number option codings on the IBM card.

The best thing is to have both the Broadcast Sheet and the IBM card-copy, and the P/T plate from one car, as well as a listing/break-down of the factory's Option-Groups, and a paint-chip card, and a Ross Roy Data Book, and all the factory brochures, and announcements, and Press Kits, and a service manual, ......man! It (your education) never ends.

Funny, my '57 New Yorker also has a code 265. Strange that two cars on the site have that code and no one is sure what it is. I'm sending in for my Chysler Historical Society decoding so if I find anything out I'll let everyone know.

That is the problem:  EVERY '57 Chrysler seems to have the 265 code so it is meaningless.

Maybe it decodes as "1957."

When I sent for my build sheet from Mother MOPAR a couple of years ago, the cover letter indicated that "256" stood for a Saratoga 2DR HT. The IBM card copy which accompanied the letter shows "256" as the "MODEL". Oops, this thread is about "265" ....sorry!

S'funny that CHRY would only need three digits to I.D a "1957 Windsor 2-dr HT" (e.g.) , whereas good ol Dodge used four
digits, so, if someone were just to give me those four digits --let's say : " 2147" , I could say, de-FIN-itively, that those numbers
pertained to a 1957, Dodge, Coronet, 4-dr hardtop (with the standard engine--maybe the 4th-extra digit, confirming the engine
type/style is the differrence between the cars: no engine-platform confirmation on the CHRY's.

Funny is as funny does.  Seems 'funny' to me that Dodge needed four digits to nail down the model and body when Chrysler could "name that car" in only three!

...Because, my dear Watson, Dodge gave you MORE information, than the lowly Chrysler models.

Dodge told you which engine-platform/configuration the particular car should be 'wearing'....

My Windsor has totally different looking tag. Wonder where the option codes should be on LA built cars?
