Location: bishop, ca | Hi, Robert; I confess that altho I have a lot of mechanical and performance data on the 56 Dodge, my body and trim
decoding is woefully bereft, in part due to the lack of communication with 1956 car owners regarding their color and trim
information.
SO, starting with your car, I know that the "8" in the BDY code means V/8, and not a 6-cylinder series (but, Royals were V/8
models, anyway0, and the "2" denotes the Royal series, but the next "5" I don't (yet) know: a "3" would be a convertible( of
which there were no Royals); a "2" there would be a 2-dr sedan (of which there were no Royals, either); and a "6" would be a
2 dr HT; which included Royals.
So, your "5" could be either a 4-dr HT (which I guess that it may be), or a 4 dr sedan.
In my records, I already have 2 Coronets in your body style (815, for Coro) and with the same paint (164), but with TRM codes
of 528, and 531.
Speaking of your car's Trim, 1956 saw 3-digits designate the style; your number looks to have 4-digits!
I have not seen that particular "535" TRM code, before, and I don't know what that last "2???" is supposed to represent.
Your car was built in Detroit, ooa 1/13/56.
So, at least confirm, please, to me the exterior and interior colors of your car.
All-white should be something like "55" for Paint code, so I'm thinking that your car is a 2-tone.
