That paint code I don't have in my files.

TRM= black& white cloth/vinyl
build date: o.o.a. 2/10/56

SP-2: I don't know.

Have you looked up/behind the glove box, to seeif your car's Broadcast Sheet might be masking-taped there?

I really need to to see/find a 1956 B.sheet.

No build sheet to be found.
car is strip down to bare metal.
I think the colors were black top maroon saddle and Chinese rose lower.
car also has lancer scripts.

Philip, the hardtop models were known as "Lancers"

If you've got the VIN plate, you should buy a copy of the factory's IBM build card copy, as you'll see at the top Sticky-message
on this board.

This IS an unusual color combination; very attractive!

Philip, do you have any picture before it was stripped down to bare metal? Would love to see the color combo.
I've got a couple of b/w pics of a 4-door Lancer seen in Sweden back in the early 80s but no longer in the Swedish registry.

I do not have any pics of the car in original colors as it has been painted many times over.
I did find hand written color combination of black, garnet and rose on cowl behind inner fender.
thanks for any and all help.

Although there is no "369", there is a "569-3" :

Roof - Jewell Black
Sweep - Garnet Metallic
Lower - Chinese Rose

"569" itself is :
Upper - Garnet Metallic
Lower - Chinese Rose
Adding "-2" means it would have a Jewell Black roof. Perhaps that is what "SP 2" refers to?

Bill, and Philip, that "3" on Phil's inner fender almost certainly applies to that "-3" that you show, for a 569-3 paint scheme.

Are there any OTHER "69" paint schemes listed on the 1956 paint codes????

If not, and if there were only 3-digits provided for, for ALL the color schemes on the P/T plate, under the "PAINT" column,
it would make (some-) sense that a "569" scheme might morph into a 3-69, or, "369" meaning a 3-tone paint scheme, and,
that the "SP" code with a "2" might designate the black painted roof.

If so, it's a little unfortunate that the factory might have chosen a "2" to designate a black color, because in almost all other
color-code instances, the factories have used a "1" (or, an "A") to confirm a black finish. Otherwise, I would have guessed
that that "2" would have designated a white-finish.

And, the 1956 paint coding might have been so confusing, that a line supervisor was compelled to spell-out
precisely how that car was to be painted, on its inner fender/firewall area (at least, AFTER the
first finish coat was applied!!)
