I get a kick out of this: Every two or three months there is a new "FL Cars in Movies" thread!

I thought this subject had been covered before too!
If I recall correctly the old post had videos and scenes of the lineup as well.
We should just keep adding to the first thread on Forward Looks in movies so it will grow with more info like the forward looks in old postcards thread does.

Don't forget all the Forward Looks in the Jerry Lewis films like "Hollywood or bust" and "visit to a small planet"..there's a flying Plymouth in that one.

Not movies but TV shows, "Leave it to Beaver" used Plymouth's after the first season(Ford's in 1957). In the opening credits there is a car driving by (58 Chrysler?). Another show "Batchelor Father" uses an Imperial conv.

I'm pretty sure "Leave it to Beaver" wasn't sponsored by Chrysler until 1959,that's the first season Ward drove a Plymouth, prior to that they were all Fords.

There is one episode where Beaver is playing in Wards 1961 Plymouth four door and it rolls into the street,if you look closely at the interior shots where Beaver and his friend are inside the car you can tell it's one of the Fords and the shoved boards into the Plymouth to make it less noticeable when it rolled into the street as the ford was a post model (sedan)

Correction I think its a DeSoto in the opening for "Beaver"

Correct,the car is a 1959 DeSoto,but it's in the closing credits.

"Leave it to Beaver" was sponsored by Ford for 1957-1958.

58 DESOTOS RULE - 2010-01-05 12:30 PM

Just for Adriana, here are some shots of 1961 Plymouths in an episode of the situation comedy "Leave It To Beaver". It looks like Mayfield (the town where the show was set) had an aggressive Chrysler-Plymouth dealer as all of the cars appear to be either Chryslers or Plymouths. There are a few Dodges too and one Imperial.

These shots are from the episode "Beaver takes a drive" that I was talking about.
The prop dept used a Ford rigged with a Plymouth steering wheel for the shots where Beaver was inside pretending to drive the car, then when the car rolled into the street they showed the 1961 Plymouth again, but since it was a four door hardtop they shoved pieces of wood in between the doors to make it appear the car has pillars like a sedan.

It's probably in one of the other threads, but a '58 Imperial Crown convertible figures prominently in "High School Confidential." Great opening titles, with Jerry Lee Lewis performing on the back of a truck...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qpb5OvJc_Fk

The Imperial shows up at 1:22 and again at 2:17 into the clip.

Another solid Ford show was 77 Sunset Strip...

I wonder what effect it might have had on buyers if they'd had Chrysler products for the boys there? And a genuine Hemi in the Kookie Byrnes hotrod, of course.

In "Animal House" there's a 57-8 Plymouth four door sedan in the front yard.
In the original "Hairspray", the family car is a 57-8 Plymouth four door sedan.
In "Tammy and the Bachelor" there are new 56 Plymouth, DeSoto and Chrysler convertibles. Also a Dodge four door sedan I think. The Chrysler is one shade of light pink, don't know what it's called. Anybody?

Remember in "Godfather 2" when michael shuts the door in kays face without saying a word? There's a 57 dodge taxi waiting for her outside.

In "Goodfellas" a quick shot outside of a bar shows a red 300, 61 or 62?

It's mobster movie week on AMC.

Some really good ones in, "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman," 1958, whose star, Yvette Vickers,
was just found in her L.A. home, apparently "mummified," after being dead for about a year.

In the campy flic, the former Playboy Playmate towered over the '58 Imperial (in a great chase scene)
and Plymouth Sport Suburban, below.

Most of the shows that used cars were not sponsored by auto manufacturers but if you watch the credits at the end you will see "Automobiles Furnished By XXXX". Chrysler furnished cars for Beverly Hillbillies and Green Acres but did not sponsor either show. They sponsored the Bob Hope show but never supplied cars as the show was done on a stage. Same with Lincoln-Mercury and the Ed Sullivan Show. Perry Mason used Ford products but no Ford commercials. Perry's practise must have improved over the years as he drove Fords in the first couple of years and then Lincolns in the 1960's.

In "Imitation of Life" (1959) look for lots of shots of a Gauguin Red '57 Chrysler 300C convertible

In "Love Field" (1992) a film using the Nov 22, 1963 JFK assassination as its beginning, look for a red 1961 Chrysler 300G hardtop

There are lots of Forward Looks in "The Twilight Zone" as well.If you watch the episode "Nick of Time" with William Shatner there is a 1958 Belvedere 2dr hardtop parked in plain view in the park scene.

In the 1972 movie 'The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man in the Moon Marigolds', Joanne Woodward toodles around town in a big ol' 4 door 59 Desoto- I don't remember the model. And one 'couldn't sleep' night I was watching some old bw Italian movie with subtitles when out of the blue the main characters drove away in a nice 56 convertible Desoto. I have no idea what the name of it was.

The movie Back Street from 1961 was on the air a couple of days ago, and there were many scenes with FL cars, and a couple of superb scenes with a dark green 1958 Chrysler New Yorker convertible, but I can't seen to find any footage of it online.

A 1957 Teen "B" hot rod movie Teen age thunder has 57 Plymouth police cars and a 57 Imperial 2dr hardtop in it. I believe there is a movie with Bob Hope and Lucy that had a 61 300G or a New yorker in it along w/other FL gems.

Hollywood or bust w/Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis has a beautiful red 56 New Yorker as the main car w/many other FL cars in the background

I don't know if this was in this thread before, but this is Donn Knotts in a 59 Sport Fury. Since the movis from 1971, and they really focus on the car, I think it's making fun of the car... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBed-RJqg0o

I recently re watched 'The Misfits'. A few in the opening scenes + the rent a Chrysler wagon which features a lot. Sorry if this has been mentioned on page 1 or 2.
