Looks nice. What's the new switch for under the IP pod?

That switch is the next thing I want to remove.. From what I understood of what Jeff, the former owner told me, it's supposed to act as an "accessory" switch for when this car had a stereo amp in the trunk and because the ignition didn't have an accessory position...? But it does! So, it has no purpose at all anymore.

Are you talking about the switch with the red light next to it? I was looking at the one farther up and to the left, looks like it's a turn-me type switch like a speaker fader.

Yeah, I thought you meant the one with the red light.. The other one is the original 58 plymouth clock adjustment knob I just installed.

What did I do to my FL today? Not a darn thing... it's been that way for over a two months now. Really in a work slump because of this really really cold winter. It's zero out there today.. windchill -10 to -15. Would have to spend so much money in Gas to heat the garage and its not insulated. Just don't have the motivation when it's like this. Last year I was able to work through the winter. It was unseasonably warm last winter. Boy are we paying for that now. Envy you guys in the warmer states!

I replaced all the rear brake lines on my Windsor and painted the gas outlet under the gas door. The lines were really rusty and almost fell apart when I removed them. Good thing I didn't take a chance with it.

Edit: Oh, and I used this tool from K-Tool to make the flares. Works so much better than any other flare tool I have tried with no hydraulics to leak. A simple tool that just works. Perfect.

I have the same tool and have used it many times, including on the stainless lines for my Imperial. I have loaned it to several friends, one of the best tool purchases I have ever made.

Whoa, Matthew, that's one shiny car! Congratulations on having it repaired and back home again. Don't know about you, but I get antsy when my old car isn't home, safe and sound inside of its own garage.

My car is off to the blockers, before returning to the shop to be painted...there's a big, empty space in the shop where my car used to be. Sighhhhh...

It's always at home, this was the first time she didn't spend a night in the garage.
The painter where it went did my dads 59 too and some other work on our cars and gas pump, I trust him completely.
But I'd still rather have her at home!
Hopefully soon I can post a pic of the whole car, some of the guys here already seen it but when the car is done in going to make lots of pics

Washed my Imperial in de-mineralised water! That's code for drove it in the rain, went to the pub for beer with a mate, then toured around some back streets and got caught in a shower. Know I live in the tropics and we have had over a meter of rain since Christmas. Car is in the shed hooked up to a de-humidifier to keep the leather un-mouldy.

Note car ran good, just the FLH brake grab as usual when first out of the shed. Run the chamoise over the 54 year old duco when I got home and she come up good.

Took the '57 Chrysler for a spin yesterday for a tiny photo and film shoot nearby.
Upon returning to the garage at the end of the day I took this shot myself and made it a bit artsyfartsy in Photoshop...

Paint and I generally don't get along for that very reason.

That rack looks really good up there. Only thing I don't like about them is having to put holes in your roof. That caused an otherwise rust free wagon I owned to rust out the spare tire well. It was leak-free for a while, until the rubber gave way to the So. Cal. sun bit-by-bit.

Jon, it wouldn't hurt to send your carb off to a facility like Recarbco, for their fine tuning and adjustment, before you install it,
so that its operation fully complements your engine configuration and performance.

After much debate about the need and research about what petronix was the right one I bought a Pertronix electronic ign 1381A that was supposed to fit my car (60 Dodge 361B). Pulled the points and condensor out and discovered that the Petronix did not fit on the plate. The points, rotor and cap still looked practically new so I put them back in buttoned it up and the car wouldn't start. Popped the cap and discovered I'd not hooked up the points spring/connector. So connected that, buttoned it up, and the car would not start. Popped the cap again, discovered I'd forgotten the rotor, put that in, buttoned it up, and it started. Heard a squeal from the fan belt. Tried to tighten it but no more range on the adjustment so had to track down a half-inch shorter fan belt. Put that on as tight as I could and it still squealed badly at higher engine speeds. Decided the fixed pitch 7-blade fan was just too much load (car originally had a 4 or 5 blade fan). I had a flex fan left over from another project that was the right size so I put that one. Still a short initial squeal with fast throttle blip but goes away when speed stabilizes so good for now. It will be interesting to see this summer if this flex blade cools the same, better, or worse then the fixed pitch one.

Maybe... if they are both seat rests then probably are correct but I thought one was a back rest. Certainly a gorgeous color combo.

I dont think the birds are on upside down?

I think they are the 2 seat bases and the feet of the birds are going towards the front of the seat like the other one

Maybe... if they are both seat rests then probably are correct but I thought one was a back rest. Certainly a gorgeous color combo.

They're not upside down, you're looking at the seat cushions for the front and rear, not a matched seat cushion and back rest.

Yesterday I replaced the left side exhaust manifold gasket. Today I hope to remove my brake master cylinder so I can rebuild it. It's a sunny day today so the Corvette may go out for a drive instead. We'll see.

Replaced all heater hoses. After looking for images that show the correct routing, I kept the same routing that I had. Still not sure if it is correct, because there appeared to be at least two variations in the images I found.

Can someone supply a photo of the correct routing - 1961 361. I am guessing that all FL big blocks have the same routing.

Thanks

This is the correct routing for any B Block. When I first got the car the hose connections at the front of the engine were reverse to this and I wasn't getting any heat out of the heater. I checked a number of engine photos I have of different cars and most of them were routed like this so I reversed the connections at the front of the engine, and presto - lots of heat. Interesting thing is that on my ex-300 they were hooked up the other way and it still had heat. However as I said, I have seen lots of them hooked up reverse to this at the front on photographs I have.

Yesterday I removed the brake master cylinder to start a hydrualics overhaul. I am not sure if the wheel cylinders need it but I am going to check them

Here is the Royal Lancer in the garage

Here is the offending brake master cylinder

Time to get out the factory manual to assist with the rebuild. I scored this at Hershey last year.

The master cylinder in the vise

56 years of gunk in there

All cleaned out

New rebuild kit

I didn't know there was a gasket between the firewall and the master cylinder. I don't have that so I will have to order it. I decided I might as well check and make sure I am not going to need something else for the brakes before placing my order.

Oh I also removed the front plate bracket since I am running vintage plates now and you didn't need a front plate in NY back then. Much cleaner look.

The Lancers roomate which did go out for a drive yesterday

Your master cylinder's condition is the impetus for all those 'halloween' stories about how "all" single pot M/C's are
inherently dangerous....when, in actuality, the deteriorated ones (after 50+years) merely need an overhaul, in order
to return them to useful service.

Be sure to use Teflon tape at both front orifices, and check the fluid level several weeks after you finish
the work, to ensure that no 'hidden' leakages are occurring.
