If he were a little closer, I'd save it. I seriously hope this guy sells the car and finds a Monte Carlo or something to trash.

Inactive by user's request Location: Las Vegas, Nevada | I have too many project cars as it is, but I say Matt is being a good guy, offering the car here first. I know times are tough, but there are people looking for good project cars. This may be the ticket for some of you. K.

Expert Posts: 1480 Location: Australia | ummmm.... not much i can do for this poor car being on the other side of the world... but um, um... post the car in general discussion, with the location and the general kinda price you'll be asking for it... there must be someone looking for a car like this... even put it on craigslist, so if someone is looking to get into the car/ forwardlook scene has an opportunity even someone young could use it as a daily... BIG M cant you save this!! someone, pleeeeaaaassssseeeee..... adriana

Expert Posts: 3967 Location: DFW, TX | Sorry, but it seems completely ignorant to ruin a car that could still be restored or used for parts. Yes I know you haven't had any offers, but can't you find some '70s full framed crapbox to derby instead of a rare unibody old Mopar?

Member Posts: 19 | ive put it up here for offers and no one has followed up on a deal, so its gonna have a few more glory days in the arena before it rusts away, itll still be around for a bit, im currently building a lincoln and have no room in the shop

Expert Posts: 1480 Location: Australia | i find it very sad that no one wants to save this car... seeing as no one is prepared to save the poor thing its destiny is to be yet another wasted forward that will not have a chance to revisit its glory days... mcw731 i applaud you for being so considerate and offering this car to people on this site (you cant do much more than that), im just sad that no one took you up on the offer, im guessing you'd get good money for things like the door trims and those immaculate seats on ebay, and it does seem to me that people in the states would rather buy one part for $90 than the whole car for $100... doesnt make much sense to me, but people have their reasons i guess... adriana

It was extremely considerate and noble of you to give the restorers first whack (no pun intended.) Thanks, Matt. For what it's worth, I've rescued a '59 Plymouth wagon, a '68 Imperial, several '59 Chevrolets and a '57 Chrysler. Granted, the '68 Imperial was a gift and I swapped a couple of Chevrolets for the Chrysler, but they are in addition to what I already have as running vehicles or cars I had and planned to get running again. Elite Veteran Posts: 708 Location: Fredrikstad, Norway. (Europe) | Matt, if I wasn't on the other side of the Atlantic I'd allready be at your place to pick it up. I don't often get angry, but if none of those FL guys over there can't even pay 1500 bucks to save this car , I'll just have to say: Don't get angry or complain because so many of your beautyful Forward Look cars is "lost" to us people over here in Scandinavia/Europe. Just look at what Kerstin (a woman) in Germany is working on for a resto. You guys want to pick this beautyful car apart bit by bit instead of saving it. TERRIBLE! Sorry, just couldn't help myself this time. By the way Matt, just in case I should "go nuts" again, would this car be rolling with a set of new tires? I am sure I could get rid of it over here for selfcost. Also, if you want me to, and someone could set up a direct link to this thread for me, I could advertice it on websites over here. Einar. Expert 5K+ Posts: 7809 Location: Williams California | Sounds crazy, Neil, but the right side of the car is exposed to heavier amounts of dirt, road salt, etc. as its closer to the shoulder of the road. More debris is always found in the right side of the road that is kicked up into crevices and open areas. ---John

Expert Posts: 2612 Location: Parts Unknown | I thought cars with fins (any make) were illegal in demos unless they "ground off" or somehow removed them ? ? ? IF that is true then WOW that really hurts if someone demos a finned car after destroying it even more BEFORE they DESTROY it ?!?!?!
mcw731 |
| ||
Member Posts: 19 | nah, finned cars are legal, but if i were to run it, i would roll the fins over the trunk, and than weld them to the trunk, that way, the leaf springs will be trying to bend the rear up, but with the added fin metal bent over that has to bend, it outta stay straight.

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Yikey, you're thinking about the Imperials; for a while (forever??) they were banned, because they were TOO tough on the competition, what-with their full-frames, and weight.. John; I shoulda realized that, growing up in Toledo; of course, there, all the cars rusted-out, ALL-over !! LOLOL Edited by d500neil 2009-09-25 7:39 PM

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7809 Location: Williams California | Hayfork California still allows all Imperials, as does the Police officers [law enforcement only] annual derby in Sacramento. All Imperials were allowed at Angel's Camp's derby until about eight years ago. These are just the ones I am aware of in this area. ---John
