Expert Posts: 2596 Location: Upplands Väsby, Sweden | Hello I saw these antennas at Ebay. Is this the original, if not original why so expensive? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1957-1958-1959-dodge-desoto-chrysler... I do not think they are original. I have the same antennas on my Windsor bought cheaply on Ebay for a few years ago. I personally feel that they fit. (Original nos antennas that I saw a few years ago on Ebay, they would have $ 850. I have no money to buy them that) Pic at antennas from Ebay, orginal? The same set of antennae is on the '58 Plymouth in http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=27348&posts=28&start=1 I don't think they are factory original for a '57 - '58 Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler, or DeSoto.

Elite Veteran Posts: 693 Location: Kangasala, Finland | They are nice looking antennas. I have a set of those sitting on garage shelf. They are NOT original 1957-58 Plymouth (nor MoPar) antennas thou. I would say they are aftermarket ones. I planned to use them on my Fury but found NOS OEM ones instead - ones like in the third posting. Edited by FinFury57 2009-09-16 1:53 AM

Expert Posts: 2596 Location: Upplands Väsby, Sweden | Ok it was what I thought they were not original, but very nice model of antennas. Was funny how the "original" packaging looks to them. And "after market" seem to have a value Edited by Windsor59 2009-09-16 2:28 AM

They might not be factory, but do look good on Windsor59's car.... the price is outrageous for them at $660..... I see some for $100 starting bid, then good luck after that ... maybe someone should adk the seller why so much for a non factory part....

Was this a 'Reserve' auction? or a 'Buy it Now' auction? It looks like the seller started with a $45 opening price. Maybe someone should ask the BUYER why so much for a non factory part? Don

DonThe seller mis-represented them as factory original parts ! that's why they went high. " 1957-9 dodge ply chry desoto nos dual antennas I bought these for my 59 E conv and desided not to go with them they where nos but not good enough for me so I plated them now are good for any 100 pt show car any questions 763-441-0459 thanks " Let the Buyer Beware, as they say. They may have a cable and some thing-a-ma-jigs included, but look at the rubber gasket. It is the same as the dummy antennae rubber gasket - no hole for the cable!

Expert Posts: 2932 Location: Lemoore CA | I bought a set of duals a while back that were not original Chrysler parts, but it seems like the ad said N.o.s. dual rear antennas for 57-59 Dodge Plymouth. When I bought them I knew they were aftermarket, but thought they would look good anyway. When they arrived, they came with vintage mounting instructions that showed an illustration of a 57 dodge. Technically the antennas I bought were not misrepresented, they did however leave out the word aftermarket. A certain ammount of responsibility does have to be placed on the buyer to check before spending big money. 99.9 percent of the time I have been burned by a sellers description, it has beeb because I did not take the time to check the facts for myself.
