Expert Posts: 1357 Location: Iowa USA | raffaplymouth - 2012-05-26 12:44 PM Lee Exline !! look this ... Beautiful! It makes me happy to see it getting such great care. And at the same time sad, that I could not do it myself. I look forward to every update and wish I could do more to help. And I am glad to see you made the choice to go back to the factory White/Gold even though both of us think the Black Gold looks better, it was the right thing to do! Thanks for bringing her back to life! | ||

Expert Posts: 2596 Location: Upplands Väsby, Sweden | Looks very good. But one question: Where the top / conv cylinders should be fastened to the floor, is for me to sit nuts in the floor 3x? that you can bolt the flat iron with a loop in to cylinders. Difficult to see your photos. Know that your floor has been out in these places when you started. Expert Posts: 1488 Location: New Castle PA | I'm guessing there was a lot of spraying of color in the trunk, but most of it was covered over with cardboard or the rubber mat. Here are 2 pictures of my Firedome trunk. It would be the same as the Adventurer, but my Adventurer has carpeting, and this rubber mat is actually the correct trunk liner. As you can see, the body color shows around the lip of the trunk, under the rubber gasket; it also shows on the hinges, the gas filler tube, and of course, the underside of the trunk lid. Exner Expert 19,174 posts. Neil passed away 18 Sep 2015. You will be missed, Neil! Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | I have many, many, photos of trunk areas (in part, trying to figure out how the asphaltic sound deadener panel was not exposed to the painting of the underside of the trunk lid---because the deadener panel was installed, in-place, when the two crimped-together halves of the trunk assembly were painted). Anyway, a properly original, or restored trunk area would have the bare metal protected by only the OEM gray primer-sealer. On top of that was the undercoating material that was 'shot' (applied) onto the inner quarter panels and wheel well areas (casually/ carelessly). After the undercoating was applied, the trunk was attached and adjusted-aligned (casually/carelessly) to the body, and then the body was painted (with the trunk elevated). Body-paint over-spray fell generously into the trunk cavity, but, the painters concentrated on applying the main body color to the trunk hinge supports and to the trunk torsion bars (and the underside of the parcel shelf, coincidentally). And, coincidentally, the middle area (only) of the fuel filler tube received (varying-extents-of) a direct shot of over sprayed body paint on it. The fuel filler tube should have a lovely combination of OEM primer-sealer, over-sprayed undercoating, over-sprayed body-painting, and over sprayed (a direct-shot of) body paint (that was intended for the driver's side trunk hinge support. This 58 Dodge is presently featured over on our 'Craigslist' message board, but, its fuel filler tube is very- much still in its OEM as-built condition. Usually, the body paint over-spray is located down-around the center of the tube, but, its location varies with the attitude/interest/sobriety of the painter. Also: notice how the over-spray is oriented in the tube's circumference which faces the trunk hinge support. Elite Veteran Posts: 1141 Location: Blackpool, United Kingdom. | zinc then clear passivate, think only the brake booster was yellow passivate, make sure you ask for the clear passivate as the zinc plating on its own will form white rust quickly.
