My '60 Belvy is now standing in Brunswick dock. The boot was FULL with trim, spares, and loads of paperwork, plus a few odds and ends as surprise gifts for me ( thankyou Ed ) New rules now state that NOTHING will be shipped with items in the boot except spare wheel and jack..Now, all these valuable parts have to be packed into a box, and shipped to me separately incurring more expense and time delay........

It's American Clive, I phoned Oceania in the States for an explanation, a very nice lady told me it's for terrorism precautions.. My argument was, if you're gonna unload the boot, then in that case, they will see that there are no iffy or suspect items in there, so why the f##k can't they put them all back in the boot just like they always used to do? "Sorry sir, it's a strict rule, with no exceptions"........

Plus there is a special export tax for all 56-61 Chrysler cars - $20 per car has to be paid directly to me.

Your money is on its way Robert, I hope you can cash in an English " stiff neck " ( C ockney speak for cheque )

Clive mate, I've never used a container, I always go RO-RO... Remember a few years back when the dockers trashed Dean Jones's Christine, they forgot to lash it down inside the container, so it spent the journey rolling back and forth, trashing the bumper wings, then when it got here, they walked on top of the car, then smashed the drivers window to get in it !!!! So I never ship cars by container......

Fred i didn,t know about about Deans car damage.. But i have used Container on the last 3 occassions and had Perfect results.. The last time was the 59 Chrysler and the Guys at the Container Plant said i could Put as Much Spares as i wanted in the Car,, Using a Shared container also Costs about the Same as Roll On / Roll Off.. On the Flip side of the Discussion, I had heard the Horror stories of the Guys at the Docks doing Burn Outs whilst Moving the Cars around,, That was the other reason i never used the RO / RO method.

Yes Clive, I guess there are horror stories about RO-RO and Container dockers irresponsible behaviour with cars being loaded or unloaded.. I always use Wallanius Willhelmsen ( I THINK they're Swedish ) in Southampton for my shipping.. Their dockers are very professional, and many a time I have sat in my truck and watched them unloading their MASSIVE ships.. They just don't have time to play silly buggers with the cars, their ships work on a very tight schedule, and have to be unloded promply because they have to be unloaded and reloaded in just two days...These gigantic ships cost many thousands of ££££'s in penalty if they are idle or empty at berthside...

That is a Pretty Tug-boat Fred... LOL

Yes i agree you hear Horror stories from BOTH ways of Transit.. I would ship RO / RO myself.. It was just that when i Imported My Cars,, The shippers only offered me Shared Container, Twice from LA and then Houston.. I have had |Friends Ship RO /RO with No Problems Also... But if this New Rule is at All the Docks now,, Maybe best to ship container in the Future IF the car has a LOT of Spares included with it,, As shipping those parts seperate and then paying Tax on top will be way expensive...

I was wondering if it would be worth phoning a few different shippers in the States, to ask if this situation is the same at all US ports, or if it was just a few of the smaller ones....

I would call or Email Other Shippers and Ask,, It cannot hurt,, Also ask IF this is a New Rule for RO / RO , then is the Rule Different for Shared Container,, If you Plymouth has a Trunk Full of Spares included this would save a Fortune in shipping this way.. I am sure shipping them all seperate will Incur Import charges and Handling..

Can,t lose anything from Asking Fred,, Don,t forget to tell them you are a Pensioner,, You may get Old Age Discount... LMAO..

Don,t want you to Worry anymore , Not sure your Ticker can take it.. The Spares can stay in the Car and i will arrange another Dock if need be..

Hows that sound to you..

Hey Cornpatch, Happy New Year mate.... Clive is ripping the arse out of my habit of importing Plymouths from the States, then selling them later on for a very meagre profit.. He was responsible for bringing his brother in law Furious down here to Farnborough, and bullying me into selling my White '60 Fury.. I remember the day very well.. They both left me with two black eyes and a sore jaw. I looked out the window in tears as they drove off, Furious was in the passenger seat rubbing his hands with glee, Clive was driving, and flipped me his finger as they went around the corner and off into the distance.. I immediately reported them to the Police, but they were too frightened to do anything about it saying " No way do we f##k with the Norfolk Mafia ""

NOW he wants to STEAL my new Black '60 Belvedere....What can I do? they are both bullies..........

Must be four years ago now since ole Charlie and Clive come down South here to pick up the white '60 Steve. The car was immaculate then, and still is now.. I'm glad that Charlie got the car, he's proved to be a fastidious owner, and he truly loves it as you can tell by the photos in his Album..
I'm still kicking myself for not charging him the true value of what the car was really worth...
So, if you're reading this Charlie, just mail me a stiff neck for £2,000.00.....Thankyou...
