Gang, I have a Plymouth with a 413 ci engine. I'm toying with the idea of putting on a dual quad manifold. What manifold casting numbers should I be looking for. It's in a 57 Plymouth, so I'm not looking for the proper date codes just the proper part numbers for a 413 ci application. Thanks much, Bob

Any intake for a RB-motor will fit. So find one for a 440 and you're good.

Would this manifold, for example, be for a RB block engine? It's part no. is 1827899-1

First confirm it is a 413. They weren't used until 1959 so if yours is a 413, it is not original to a 1957.

I have a 1961 Chrysler Newport with a factory installed 413 with dual inline carbs. It was built as a test car for the 1962 300H that was built on the smaller Newport chassis and used the inline dual carbs rather than the crossrams. The dual inline carbs were used in 1959 and 1962. In 1960,61,63, and 64 the dual carbs were on the crossrams. After that the only dual carbs appeared on the max wedge and hemis, with the hemis being the only inline.

My manifold is number is 1854817-1. This is the 1959 manifold. In 1962 the manifold is the same but with a different number. My carbs are also the 1959. The front is 2798s and the rear (with the choke) is 2799s. In documenting the car it was confirmed that engineering used the manifold and carbs from the parts bin as the 62 parts were not yet being produced. They were waiting for the testing of our car to determine the final specifications for the 62 300H.

I would think that either the 1959 or 1962 300 manifolds would work. I saw one on Ebay a year ago for $250.00, but did not have the carbs.

One CAN run a "B" intake manifold on an "RB" engine IF ONE USES THE SPACERS commonly sold by high perf. vendors OR makes them oneself....

No, this is a "B" block intake, for the 350, 361, 383 and 400

dual INLINE 4bbl carbs were optional for 60 plymouths. the GOLDEN commando 361/383 was either a single 4bbl or inline dual quad.
sounds like a unique car you have there! so its a 61 with an original 6 bolt crank and 727 ?!!! can you please post a pic of that car and/or a pic of the vin and bt ?

The car is unique as Newports weren't available with the 413, solid lifters, and dual inline carbs. All the dual carb 413 cars in 61 were crossrams. It is a fairly late build on April 21, 1961 with the engine code of 4-14. VIN is 8113176736. Shipping Order Number is 0501 8888, showing an order date of May 1 and a special order number 8888 that no one has seen when decoding these cars. The dealer code is the engineering pool at the proving ground It is a 1961 code engine (R 41) and has a cast iron torgueflite. All heavy duty suspension, front anti roll bar, 12" brakes, 7.60-15 Goodyear Bluestreak tires, leather interior, 150 mph speedometer, solid lifters, dual point ignition, dual exhausts with no crossover pipe, and 300G wheelcovers. Plus a numbr of options like ps and pb, golden touch tune radio, rear window defogger, limited slip differential, 2.93 rear axle ratio, some trim upgrades, etc. Though it is not air conditioned, it has the air condition spec radiator, probably for increased capacity for high speed testing.

It was built and tested to finalize specs for the 62 300H including carbs, suspension, brakes, tires etc. They ran it at 146mph on the proving ground and due to the non-standard equipment and high speed testing it was supposed to be crushed. My grandfather and his boss were able to get it out of the factory ( took a few months) and it was part of my grandfather's retirement package from Chrysler. He received it Sept 12, 1961 with nearly 10,000 miles and it had never been titled. He ran the forging operations at the New Castle plant for about 30 years.

I will be posting some pictures as soon as I figure out to do so. The car is all original and in very good condition with about 65,000 original miles.

For a lot of information about Chrysler V8 engines there is a great paper available on www.moparts.com under Mopar Tech Archives (middle of the page) entitled 45 Years of Chrysler V8, written by William L. Weertman. Bill was a high ranking engineer in the power train development. At the end of the paper he lists each V8 available in each division by year and shows the type of induction available.
