Say Doc,

Can you tell me more about the '59 Dodge wagon?
Do you have more pictures or can you take more????
Is the car for sale as a car parts?

Thanks.

It is my plan to begin rounding up many of these field relics after I get the shop completed.
While I did not make contact on this particular car, I am contacting those owners I can locate
and making my interest known with a contact number. I also let these owners know that I would
help them in their efforts to fix up a car should they decide to do so. This way they know I am not
just trying to get their car and start off on a friendly basis.

What would you be wanting for parts ???

I plan to restore "George" next year, at least start to disassemble the car. I know some parts I need but might have a few surprises along the way. I am in no hurry right now but I am interested to know what's available. Thanks for the info.

I'm just back from a trip with the Dodge in Eastern Quebec and I spotted a good number of FL cars along the way.

1960 Imperial 4dr hdtp:

1957 Dodge Regent:

1959 Dodge Mayfair convertible (this is the same one I spotted 13 years ago but it's not at the same location it was then...):

1961 Dodge:

I also saw a 1960 Desoto Adventurer 2dr hdtp in a barn, but I couldn't take pictures... The owner didn't even want to show it to me at first. It's unfortunate as it's a beautiful car in really good shape, but it hasn't been out of the barn for the last 30-some years..

You snooze, you lose ...... That is how the saying goes.

I have known of a Sonoramic 60 Plymouth 2 door sedan hiding in a garage here in town for well over
ten years. I have spoken with the owners numerous times, and in spite of being left to molder away,
when asked if they might sell it, the answer was always that they were going to restore it.

I went by there again today after about a year away to find the house gutted and a contractor giving it
the once over. The car, like the previous owners, were nowhere to be seen and no one knew a thing
about them or the car.

So, sorry gang .... no pix of this upscale barnfind.

to see one though - Now, I can't drive 5 miles in either direction without seeing a tractor parked rotting away

Oh well, Ima still keep lookin - until then I will continue to enjoy this thread and all of you guys' finds !!!!

I found this one behind a fence in a backyard. 1959 Fairlane 500 ragtop. Being in my line of work sometimes

spotted a '56 Desoto Firesweep wagon the other day, parked in a driveway, with more recent derelicts parked in front of it. I would have enjoyed posting a photo, but apparently I'm not signed up to post photos. THe yard is overgrown and filled with "collectible" crap.

My brother and I went down to the Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course (New York) yesterday . . . I lost my limit on the third race, but the main event was a photo-finish and worth the trip.

We were behind this beautiful '60 Chrylser for just a block as we left the track.

I can't imagine what the designers at Ford were thinking when they came up with that '59 rear-end styling. I'd rather look at a '58 Olds than that.

Great pix, Roger. They were too large to post, and it took some thinking to figure out how to import them off
email to my editing program to downsize them enough to work. But the DLI helped and we got it figgered out !

I'll do the Valiant pic in the near future.

I spotted this deep blue 57 Imperial parked outside a transmission shop near Longview, TX recently.  The shop was closed, so I could not get any info on the car's owner.  Does it belong to anyone on the forum?

Interesting Imperial, Brian. I saw this one Saturday in south Macon. (GA)

The '59 Plymouth race car was seen in Warner Robins, just north of the Air Force Base.

At a secret location in Saskatchewan. There is a third 57-58 hardtop in the shed. I can't tell if it's a Savoy or a Regent, since the front and all trim are removed. He'll sell all three for $1600. The car in the shed is full of parts like taillights, trim, mirrors, etc. Somebody was gonna fix it up.

The middle one is a '57 Savoy, behind is a '58. Both hardtops, both fresh farm field condition. I didn't really look at the new ones.

Wow, they're pretty rough, but for 1600$, if they were local, I'd give it a serious thought. The shipping would kill the deal now, though.

Yeah, prolly about 600km one way from Edmonton. All those parts were tempting, but I think the neighbours would object if I parked those lawn ornaments in front of my house.

This may be way-late, but, if you scroll up to Savoy Plaza's pic of the 57 IMP, which was taken on 10/9/10, doesn't
that car's image look to be that of a model car which was photo-shopped onto the photo's background?

This place was a small speed shop we used to frequent years ago. The owner had an electrical business during the day, and opened the shop at night. Only the building ( if you can call it that ) is still there.

Home on leave and took a long road trip. Saw a lot of miles and a few cars of
interest along the way. Enjoy.

First shots show my idea of what a road trip should look like out your windshield ...
... no multi-lane freeways, no guardrails, no traffic.

This Ford appeared to be a daily driver, just parked for the evening in sleepy little
Prairie City, Oregon.

Backtracking a little. A car show broke out while we were getting some chow in Palouse,
Washington. The Nash gets my vote for the most stylistically out of touch car from the fin
era. What were they thinking in the design dept. at Nash when Mopar was rolling out, not
the FIRST gen FL cars, but the 2nd gen 57's ??? Kinda like taking your kid to Chucky Cheese
for his/her wedding reception !

Still, super cool to see one on the road today. Love the colors.

The slippery dart shaped form of a 60 Windsor coupe sure stood out in this crowd. The lack
of rear toilet seat only enhanced the slick appearance.

Lakeview, Oregon had a surprising number of interesting cars hiding in the weeds.

A green Henry J looked to still be in original paint, as did a nice yellow 60 Dart 2HT
and a black 59 Windsor 4HT.

The 36 (?) Cadillac was quite a shock to see just sitting out. It too appeared to be
an all original car in factory paint.

Found this dented, but repairable 60 Dodge dog dish at a junk store in Klamath Falls.

A red 60 Dart 2s was spotted in the grass on the east side of HWY 97 going north out
of town, but I forgot to stop and get a pic the next morning when the light was better.

I am pretty sure it must have been a 383 ram car.

Cool photos "Doc",thanks for sharing! I especially like that yellow 1960 Dodge 2dr hardtop and the 1960 Chrysler.

Wish I could look out my windshield and see nothing but beautiful wide open tree lined roads! looks really peaceful.

We all make choices, my friend. I would wager that no one is holding you captive in
L.A. except yourself. Don't be that guy who gets to be old and unable to do these things
and regret never having done them. THAT is a life wasted.

BTW - I thought of you along the road when I met a very "available" and extremely
curvy redheaded waitress in a backwater burg. I would have passed along your POC if
I knew it.

But I suspect she'd be the kind of gal that would want a guy who would get out of L.A.

There is a reason I live where I do .... high desert, minimal population, easy to "escape",
and lots of old stuff still left about. The "interior" of Washington and Oregon is much like Nevada ....
sage brush, pines, and a lot of wide open space.

That car was about an 8 hour drive north of Reno, Nevada.

Here's a shot taken on U.S. #6, somewhere in Utah, approaching the Pacific Time Zone,
in the distance, en route home from the 1986 WPC Club's national meet which was held
in Colorado Springs, CO.

That was a great 'Meet'.

The venue was at the Embassy Suites, with the members' rides being parked all the way around
the place, and with all-nite bull sessions (I mean: serious discussions) varying upon encountering
any the many year/make/model owners who were holding court, and serving alcoholic beverages
at their vehicles.

Brent, welcome back to the Northwest for a while!! Hey, I know that "Slippery 60 Windsor Coupe"
it used to belong to Jon Carson a friend of mine / WPC member in Woodinville, WA. He sold it to another WPC member,
I saw the car a couple of years ago at the WPC Meet in Ellensburg. It's actually a Saratoga not a Windsor.

Ian, ... you better get a proper Saratoga grille in that car of yours. You are misleading the
unwashed masses into thinking that recessed job is standard Saratoga fare !
