Odd to see a NY'er with rear antennas. It seems most NY'er buyers opted the more conservative
front fender mount. Maybe they were added in latter days since everyone began to see the 50's
through the American Graffiti lens that all cars were teenager's cars down at the burger joint ?

No fender or hood ornaments though .... interesting .....

Beautiful car.

The Sonnet looks like a toy parked next to that Mustang. European car makers had
a very different idea of proportion and finish than U.S. carmakers back then.

Where else can a guy grow moss and lichen on his parked cars like in the lovely
swamps of the PNW ?

Truth be known, this can happen when you just run into the store to "pick up a few
items". When you go in, it is sunny and nice, come back out and it is cold and wet
and you are redefining the term "bumper crop" !

Yeah; The Desoto's were for sale a number of years back, but the old Fella had other cars, and got ripped off in one of the deals. Then it was, "they can rot in the Bush then Dammit." He has since passed away, so now the Son is trying to clean up the property. John

Just returned from London.
The city has much to offer
Did not see any U.S. classic cars. (except on way with train from Airport Gatwick, when I have not the camera ready)
Here are some older cars I see over there
And a nice pub GOLDEN LION

Spoke with the owner a little: the car was originaly from Virginia, then sold to someone in Tennessee and imported into Canada in 2001.

True, a paint job is needed.. and some chrome. The rest of it is surprisingly good. Interior has swivel seats, and is the original black, silvery grey and white.

Seems as Though the '61 Desotos were most often either white or light blue, and this one's both! Which do you think it was originally?

Come to think of it, most '61 DeSotos I've seen have been white or light blue (a few black?). Never really thought about it before.

Interesting car with an interesting history!

Thanks for the pic's, solouz!

Mostly white, though.

The good news is that that trailer full of 57 DeSotos (and the 62 300) were not on the way TO the crusher, but,
arguably were being taken AWAY from the crusher!

Good photos, Joakim! It seems that 99.99% of those boxy Volvos were that mustard yellow color!

While traveling through Monteagle, TN, a few weeks ago, on a lark I spotted this behind an old shop building!

I'll tell you along the same lines that Bel Air owners tell my brother when he asks them "What's so special about a Bel Air? There were over 690 thousand of them produced in '56 to only 85 thousand Studebaker's in '56 or 110 thousand DeSoto's in '56?" (I had to look up the production numbers and picked '56), that being I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINION OF THE DODGE DAYTONA!

And as my Uncle used to say, "Put that in your smoke and pipe it."

Car shows are not car spotting, Uncltank. Old cars in fields, barns, or old daily
drivers is "car spotting". Make a note of it.

Smoke your own turd, young whippersnapper. Post 70 cars suck ass. Not an opinion, ...

I totally and 100% agree!

But the way I see it, I'll take a 90s "daily driver" ANY DAY over the CRAP built during the last decade or so.
For one, I can actually fix them. I can't say that for the "new" CRAP.

And especially over anything built during the "bailout era" - FORD INCLUDED, even though they like to "say" they didn't take bailout money.

Plus, no offense to you "440 dudes" (I seem to see them dropped into anything-and-everything MoPar), but this young whippersnapper actually WANTS his first engine rebuild to be geared for MPG, not for lb-ft or bhp.

Get that under my belt, then we'll talk about rebuilding for lb-ft and bhp.

My brother has me hooked on the Slant Six 225 - who knows, maybe I'll end up with one of those before a 90s rebuild, LOL.
You have to admit, if you want something that looks "different", the Slant Six is in a class all by itself. Okay, right in there with the Sonoramic crossram.
