I'm parting out a number on '59-'60 cars pretty soon, I might be able to help you out if you get stumped on finding parts. 1958-59 Plymouth - Leaf Spring 2 1/2 x 20 x 35 Interchange DeSoto '57, Firesweep Dodge '57 Dodge '60, Dart Dodge '61, except Station Wagon Dodge '62 Dodge '63, except 880 Lancer '61-'62 Dart '63-'65 Plymouth '57 Plymouth '58-'59, except Station Wagon Plymouth '60 Plymouth '61, except Station Wagon Plymouth '62-'63 Valiant '60-'65

Extreme Veteran Posts: 455 Location: seattle, Wa. | Sportsman, Thank you! Today I visited a wrecking yard and found a 63 Plymouth...preliminary measurements indicated that it was a good donor...your information confirms my belief that this car can give me the springs I need.

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Roger, another trick you can do is: go buy a station wagon's leaf springs, but stack their 5 shorter-leafs onto your car's main-long leaf (for spring length/perch retention). You can also mix-match the two sets of leafs, as necessary, as long as the proper-length long-leaf is retained.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 455 Location: seattle, Wa. | go by size...what does that mean, Chuck? Neil, I have no correct springs at the moment, so can't do your mis-n-match stacking idea. I spent 2+ hours removing springs from 63 Plymouth, then upon my return home I ws met with email from reputable source saying these won't fit. So what ARE the measurements...I thought 55" center to center was correct...(given by fellow '59 cvt owner).

Extreme Veteran Posts: 455 Location: seattle, Wa. | Thank you for that, BHWINC. I took the front brackets and bushings with the springs...will these brackets fit the '59 Ply frame holes? Will I need to salvage any other suspension part from the donor car before I hand this project over to a garage having a hoist?

Extreme Veteran Posts: 455 Location: seattle, Wa. | I did not get the rear shackles or bushings off the donor car (because they were missing). Will my existing shackles and bushings work?

Elite Veteran Posts: 852 Location: Etters Pa | Roger I don't know if the front hardware will bolt up or not. simply guessing, I would guess they would. You didn't say which model 63 you took the springs from so a quick search of Napa on line for a 63 Belvedere turned up the following shackle specs. Which they show as the same for 59 Plymouth NCP 2741141 http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?A=NCP2741141_013101374... Edited by BHWINC 2010-07-01 1:20 PM

Extreme Veteran Posts: 455 Location: seattle, Wa. | Going by the full length body side molding, the donor car is a Belvedere. I dont know how to post pics here, but some pics are posted on 59Sportfury site. Hey, that link you sent (with photo and number of part!) of my local Napa store is great! and the parts price is right! Edited by rogerh 2010-07-01 2:50 PM

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Roger, Atlas auto is selling (not-cheaply, but COMPLETELY) a rear leaf spring shackle/bushing/etc package, which I've considered buying, because installing it, along with stripped and repainted leaf springs, will produce a completely-restored/show-quality-looking leaf spring assemblies. Having 100% new hardware, along with restored leaf springs, will dramatically improve a car's undercarriage appearance, and at/with relatively little hassle-complications in the process.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 455 Location: seattle, Wa. | Chuck, I do not understand your measurements...you are a man of few words...2 1/2" I get that (width). 20 signifies what?, likewise 35? The springs off the '63 Belvedere are 2 1/2" wide by 55-57" length (varies depending on weight applied) Beltran, I have to go the poormans's route on this issue, but thank you for the info Edited by rogerh 2010-07-07 11:33 PM

Elite Veteran Posts: 852 Location: Etters Pa | Springs are measured from the center of the front eye to the center of the pearch stud/pin. Following the contour of the main leaf "20" From the center of the center pin/bolt to the center rear eye, again following the contour of the main leaf is 35" thus you get 20"x35"
