Excellent quality. I bought one for my 59 Dodge and compared it to one made by Just Dashes. The Autoline pad was clearly the winner. And it cost less as well.

Excellent quality. I bought one for my 59 Dodge. . .Ron.

Ron, do you know what can happen to a black dash in a Convertible, fully exposed to sunshine?

When I got my Convertible, the dash was completely hardened , deformed and broken on one side. Not finding a replacement, I coated directly the dash on metal, that never will become hot as the isolated plastics, and will keep flat at any instances. I am still thinking to mount one new over, as yours, it is very nice. And what about longtime exposure to heat and sun(hardens and deforms)?. I think the todays quality to be much better then at those times, as we know to the rubber parts. Some comments from the manufacturer? - SERGE -

Hi
The materials we use in the manufacture of our dash pads are the same as used by the automotive industry today, according to the manufacturers of materials, this is of much better quality than those produced 50 years ago.

Thanks

Ichecked them out via their website and they do not have any for the 59 Plymouth. Too bad, looks like good UV stablized material. I will have to go to Just Dashes for the 59 Plymouth model.

Robert,

Go to the "product gallery" and scroll down to Plymouth, you will see pics of the 59 dash pad if you click on the link.

They can make more colors if wanted for $100. The price for the black and gray is somewhere around $450, John Q does know the exact price as he is going to order one for himself and one for me too. I am lucky that I need the black one but John wants a different color to match his turqoise car.

$450 + color $100 extra + shipping + other costs = maybe in next life

Thats dirt cheap when compared to Just Dashes. They want over $1200 for a padded dash for my 59 Dodge. $450.... I may just buy that one.

This is from Just Dashes, but for the 59 Plymouth it is just the "safety" pad that is mounted on the passenger side dashboard.

I'm confused. I thought that they WERE talking about Just Dashes ???

Also, be careful of RDs dashpad for the 59 Dodge, their lines in front of the grill are not like the original. Rds lines are too short.

They can take your good core and reproduce it if they don't have one in stock. Give them a call.

Being as how the factory doesn't have any nice NOS ones from thier warehouse anymore, and if they did it would be an astronomical price, any dash would work whether the lines are right or not, nobody at any car show would even notice that. I did call Just Dashes and they wanted 850 if I sent my core for my 62 300 plus shipping both ways, so if I could get one already made for 450 plus shipping, that would be the bargan of a lifetime in my opinion. However some of us aren't rich so we either save our money to get what we need, or in my case, I am just painting mine with fiberglass resin, and I will have the upholster wrap it with vinyl. Hell I think the dash looks cool painted without the pad.

I have, as many of you know bought a dashpad from RD for my Saratoga '60. If anything, it's better made than the original ones. The discussion about the lines is more of a personal point of view, some like the more marked ones from RD - I'm one of them. I used my car for almost 2 years without the pad, since it was warped beyond recognition and fell to pieces. I was so happy when my dash pad from RD arrived - what a lift up of the appearance. I'm absolutely not rich and the price for the pad burned a hole through my wallet, but it was money well spent, that's for sure.

I contacted RD yesterday, and they sent me some pictures, WOW!!!! What a killer looking dash pad, and it was 650 plus 50 to ship from California to Texas. It will be one of the last things that I buy, but they are really nice, and looked to be well made. I will just cover mine for now, but eventually, just like the Cleartop wheel, I will get one!

I tried going to RD's website, maybe it's just my computer, but I can't access the US/english portion, I wanted to know if they make a dash pad for a 60 Imperial, and what the cost was. Do you have a phone number and/or email address for RD?

RD Autoline
co/ Anders Blomberg

info@autoline.se

THere's no US Phone Number so I tried the Contact Us E-mail form. But the form does not respond when you click the Send button. I just sent an e-mail to "info@autoline.se"
