Extreme Veteran Posts: 307 Location: Newcastle Australia | Hypermung - 2010-12-27 1:04 AM G'day fellas... Well my Dodge has finally arrived in OZ. I guess one more you all have 'lost' overseas. But don't worry, it's come to a good home & will be cherished & not turned into a butcher wagon. I nearly pissed my pants when I saw it for the first time (how many ways can you say 'Terribly excited' lol).. it has a few problems that need sorting out, but hey for a 50 odd year old car I suppose they're minor.. No dash lights work, needs a new trunk rubber, new rubber stoppers in the gas flap & new rubber bumpers under the hood (the ones down the side). Also some of the original chrome isn't up to my standards & will have to be redone, but all in all, it's fairly sweet.. Now for a couple of questions. Trunk rubbers & under hood bumpers aren't a problem (Atlas has them), but what about the gas flap bumpers ?.. There's 2 of them & they must be little conical protrusions with a piece to push thru the body.. Any ideas Guys ?.. Also would anyone know approximately the number of D 500 Coronets produced ? (big ask I know)... Anyhow fellas, keep up the good work helping those of us not so knowledgeable... Cheers. Glenn G'Day Glenn, Congratulations on the new arrival. Gary Goers is probably the best bet for the rubbers. The Gas Door Snubbers are listed on page 29 of the latest catalogue. He may also be more reliable for the trunk and hood as well. I have just sent off a list for my 59 Dodge. Laurie

Expert Posts: 4036 Location: Connecticut | Welcome Glenn ! Nice car you have there. 59 Dodges look great in black. Is your car an original D500, or has it been built up ? If you post dataplate information, either here or in the dataplate decoding forum, I can decode it for you. Ron

Veteran Posts: 115 Location: Sunny Queensland..AUSTRALIA | Hi again fellas... Heres a few more pix & also the build & VIN plate if you'd like to have a go @ deciphering it for me Ron... As far as I know, it's an original D500, but the proof of the pudding's in the plating... Any help would be appreciated... Also Guys, the last pic is of the rear window corner trim.. Surely Dodge would not have put a screw thru the trim on the leading edge to hold it down?.. YUK... I reckon it's a later addition.. Any ideas ?.. Expert Posts: 4036 Location: Connecticut | Glenn - Really sweet car ! It's difficult to decode a Los Angeles-built car, since the data plate is different and most of the options aren't listed. I believe a 3 in the M2 position indicates D500. Neil may have more info on this. Otherwise, it's an early car. Scheduled build date of Oct. 8, 1958, black Coronet 2dr HT with Custom Coronet (silver snowflake) interior trim. You may want to order the build sheet from Chrysler Historical to find out more. Yes, that screw in the lower rear window moulding is correct. Is the paint original or has it been repainted ? Ron Edited by ronbo97 2010-12-27 8:35 PM
