Gonna have to settle on my tiny avatar, as I do not have any stored photos of my DeSoto
on my laptop. For those taking notes: 1958 DeSoto Fireflite.

I have hard copy photos of some other really rare ones at home, as well as dealer promo
photos, but that will have to wait until I get home.

Ok; this is a fitting 10,000th post (been waiting for one to arise)....That is Lee Smith's (originally: Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick's)
1957 D501 race car, above here.

It is one of the few true race car D501's that were built (most-all, by the time of their delayed run-out, in late MAR 57) had
been doll'ed-up with various options to make them more sale-able to the general public.

Lee's car has virtually no factory options on it--not even a heater--but it's 2-tone paint job was an option; single colors
were standard on every 1957 Dodge car model.

Now: on to 11,000th post!

WOW---just noticed my new appellation, too!

Thord; you, too, must have attended a certain WPC national Meet, in Detroit, around the mid-80's!

Recognize the distinctive lighting from the Joe Louis Center/Cobo Hall....Wayne Maddox had his 57 green/white
Royal D500 there, and so did Bill Amberger--turquoise/white Custom Coronet 2-dr Club Coupe!

I had flown into town...to attend.

For anyone who missed out on the 80's Detroit National Meets, with their tours of the various Assembly Plants and Corporate honcho get-togethers, and Proving Grounds tours etcetcetc....too bad!

Neil, congrats to your 10k!
Yes, of course I attended the WPC Meet in Detroit in 1985 to celebrate Chrysler 60 years! That was THE MEET of a lifetime!
The Saturday car show was in the Cobo Hall where I got some pics.
That was the time I met Wayne Maddox, first in Colorado and then in Detroit where he had his lovely green/white 57 Royal D500.
Sherwood Kahlenberg brought a shiny red 58 Belvedere 4-d HT with only 7834 miles!
I arrived at the meet by Greyhound bus after a visit with Jack Shrum in Canada, to see his 60 Imperial Custom.
I've been through my old slides and I've got a lot more pics, keep your eyes open for a new thread...
