Regular Posts: 64 Location: Home of the Gouverneur - Graz / Austria | My Chrysler 300G Convertible has a front disc brake. The former owner told me that this conversion had to be done in Switzerland. If AAJ brakes canĀ“t help you I would take a closer look on my front brakes.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7207 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | http://www.aajbrakes.com/ I have used their setup in both my 60 Saratoga and my former 1962 Chrysler 300 with mixed results. I still have a moderatly low pedal in the Saratoga - I need to install a master cyl. with a larger bore than the one AAJ first recommended, and the problem with the master cylinder is that you have to find a low profile master cyl to fit under the booster. AAJ recommends using a GM master cyl with an adapter to fit the Chrysler mount. The 62 installation is a much easier installation because the master attaches to the front of the booster, a modern setup compared to the pre 62 models. and you can get the exact master cylinder you need to fit without any issues.

Expert Posts: 2524 Location: Houston | I plan to convert my 58 to PDB...and I am going to use a Tilton master cylinder. They are fairly low cost, available in all sorts of piston sizes, and have a remote reservoir. The cylinder itself will fit under the booster easily and I can mount the reservoir on non-permanent bracket elsewhere. http://tiltonracing.com/content.php?page=list2&id=22&m=b Edited by GregCon 2011-04-01 3:59 PM

Expert Posts: 2679 | shuweet61 - 2011-04-11 6:07 PM Thanks guys. Has anyone used Engineered Components Inc. in Vernon CT.? I found their ad in a magazine and their prices seem a lot lower than AAJ. They want $625 for the kit, I bought the basic AAJ kit and out sourced the rest locally and still came out under 625.... The ECI kit uses an aluminum hub with plymouth rotors and GM calipers, the same as AAJ, but AAJ dosent use a separate hub made of aluminum. You could go either way, ECI the kit is all ready, for AAJ you can buy the kit or make a separate trip to the auto parts store to get the rest. I have AAJ on my 59 Dodge and they work great.

Regular Posts: 92 Location: Hollister Ca | Nice. I am buying a house right now I am trying to keep my spending down but need brakes in a bad way. Think I like the look of the ECI kit. I also have a knocking coming from my rear passenger side. the shop i took it to said it's the drum hitting the backing plate. He said he fixed it but not more than a couple trips around town did it start up again.

Expert Posts: 3575 Location: Netherlands | Not that this might help you any but I received a set of lasercut caliper adapter plates I had designed recently but due to other projects I haven't been able to mock them up on my '60 NewYorker yet to test the accuracy of my drawings. As a reminder, these adapterplates will only work with 11.75" rotors like being used on the early (mainly 1973) '70s fullsize Mopars. Expert 5K+ Posts: 7409 Location: northern germany | shuweet61 - 2011-03-30 5:19 PM Has anyone done or know of a front disc brake conversion kit for a 1961 Chrysler Newport? there are alot of 57+ disk bake kits available now. i converted to disks 12 years ago when there was nothing and i couldnt find affordable drums for my car. i still think it is the best way to convert to disks. still cheaper than the regular wilwood kits. the 2nd picture shows why it is so easy. just slip the disk/hat assy over your oe hubs. the 1.25" offset wilwood aluminum rotorhats #170-3265 place the rotos in the perfect position as if they were made for fl cars and you just need a flat piece of aircraft quality aluminum or steel plate as caliper bracket. the whole conversion can be done in a few hours. these brakes are great, work perfect even without power assist, reduce unsprung weight and are very reliable. i did not have to rebuild them yet and i realy abused them! the only downside is with the 12.19" rotors you need 15" or larger wheels.
