Location: Beaumont TX | The Gabriel 82072 and KYB shock numbers mentioned in the other thread don't fit my 1955 Plymouth. The bottom fitting on my shocks is a bar with 2 ears and a bolt goes through each ear to bolt the shock to the bottom control arm. Does anyone know a replacement shock for this type of bottom shock?
Thanks,

Location: cornpatch county, Southwest IOA | I used late 70's-early 80's Corvette shocks on my 56 Chrysler. I don't know if that is the same as 55 Ply. I thought the heavyness of the car would offset the stiffness of the Corvette, And I was right. All I had to do was enlarge the mounting holes in the cross pin to fit the larger Mopar bolts, and it fit and works A-1 It has the right top shock mount and the right shock travel......................MO |

Location: Beaumont TX | I bought 1980 Corvette Monroe Sensatrac shocks and they didn't quite work because the new model of the Sensatrac has a larger diameter cylinder and it would not fit through the hole in the bottom control arm. I exchanged for Monroe Matic (still 1980 Corvette) and they worked great. They are about 3/4 inch longer when fully extended but I don't think this will be a problem. The ride is real good.
Thank you for the information Steve.
