Regular Posts: 89 | Hi folks; Well, the evil empire has struck again. Now that E-Bag owns CraigsList, it was only a matter of time before the greedy bozos started to mess up a good thing. If you used "sitemash" aka Jaxed.com to search for cars or parts outside of your local listing, you can forget about it. Lawyers for CragsList have served a cease and desist on Jaxed, so they have removed all of thier CL listings as of today. Read about it here http://www.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/show.cgi?idx=20110826202627 This just sucks!! Mark

Now how are we going to see all the forward looks on craigslist in one place? Why would eBay give a rats ass? What was this over, they didn't want the craigslist ads competing with the kijiji and eBay ads?? Edited by 1960DesotoAdventurer 2011-08-27 12:05 AM

Uh, you may want to check your facts. eBay owns a 25% share of craigslist, which they bought seven years ago. Ron

Why do they care? The sellers want to sell their cars, boats, etc.the more exposure the better and lots of times the buyer for a car will be outside the state.they are just making it that much harder for their users.

Expert Posts: 3575 Location: Netherlands | Just use google for craigslist-search. Way faster. Enter the line below exactly into the Google searchfield; site:phoenix.craigslist.org Desoto Replace the city with your own or just leave it out like this: site:craigslist.org Desoto Remember to put in a space between the url and what you're searching. You can more items to search for by seperating them by spaces. Shortlink to google while searching the Phoenix craigslist for "desoto" http://www.google.nl/search?q=site%3Aphoenix.craigslist.org+Desoto

Expert 5K+ Posts: 8445 Location: Perth Australia | That really sucks hard I find the ebay stuff easy enough, but going through all of the individual cities is stupid. I tried doing what Bigblock said above, and that dont work to well either if your looking for a plymouth Craigslist are really hurting themselves with this I have sent an email to craigslist (for all the good it will do, but if others do the same, it might help) here it is Hi there I do not expect to get a reply to this, but Who was the person that stopped Jaxed (site mash) from being able to reference your site and why? I am searching for a rare car to buy, and by using their site, I was able to search all of USA (I am in Perth Western Australia). I cannot sit here all day trying to search individual cities trying to find what may only be 1 or 2 listings for the entire country. You are doing nothing but hurting your own site and your advertisers by cutting out the search capabilities of buyers searching for items. Mick Edited by ttotired 2011-08-27 1:26 PM

Craigslist are really hurting themselves with this .... Why doesn't it work? It's obvious the previous owner (who didn't like Jaxed either) sold out when grEedbay handed him a bag of money. And in the process Ebay killed another competitor on the online market. Something about free enterprice and The American Dream comes to mind I guess.

Location: The Mile High City | I really liked the format of Jaxed! It seemed very user friendly to me. I tried Google and autotempest and could not get them to deliver results of any value. Scienceconfederation is pretty good. The format is not quite as good as Jaxed, but it is not limited to cars! You can search the whole country (and banana republics) for anything you want!
