These cars have so many super cool atomic/space age features; I'm always finding new things with each car posted here. A question - what is the gauge below the speedo and between the temp and fuel? Clock The upper black band has the hours while the lower band has the minutes. Interesting set up.

Regular Posts: 65 Location: Highland Park, Dyno Cell 13 | Reed, that is one of the coolest finds I've seen, thanks for sharing! Love the colors! And a manual trans, what a rare combo. I remember that there is a gorgeous black manual trans D500 Pioneer in California as well as a red/red manual trans Phoenix like yours. Any news from the WPC Museum? Please keep us updated! I have wanted a 61 Pioneer for 30 years and finally picked one up last summer, it will be converted to a manual trans 413 (slant six/at car). Looks like your car isn't that bad for being sitting in a field, mine is worse. Here's a couple of pics, send me a pm if you want to talk. Regular Posts: 65 Location: Highland Park, Dyno Cell 13 | What's up with the high demand for un-stoned shields, lol? Actually, mine could be available since I don't plan to use them but I can't remember the condition. What complicates matters is the fact that the car is at a shipper in Texas and it will take a while before I can eyeball it coser...

Actually, mine could be available Harder to straighten by hand if they are mashed or kinked. '61 Dodge Dart series shields are all by themselves. '60-'61 Ply and '60 Dart are the same. (differnt part #'s but still identical) The only way to tell 'em apart is a side by side compairson.

Regular Posts: 65 Location: Highland Park, Dyno Cell 13 | These also take a heavy beating depending on the climate and road conditions. My car being from Minnesota might have had its fair share of salt and sand spray even if they look straight. Having a fair share of first hand experience about these here in Finland they can look really nasty up close. But as I said, it will take awhile before I can inspect mine. Thanks for the interchange info.

Thanks for the interchange info. If they are not scraped, dented, whatever,,,,,,,. To me, getting rid of the pits, (snad/salt blast) just requires a LOT of sanding. Since those shields have several compound curves, trying to 'peck out' the dents/kinks, 'may' cause the overall shape to be off. Then they don't fit correctly. By the time one pays a 'professional' trim straightner, (they have ALL the specialized tools to get the 'kinks' out of stainless, w/o warping the piece) it 'might' be cheaper to find a NOS piece. I have in the wrappers, a pr of NOS Ply/Dodge shields. And in the box, NOS driver's side '61 Dart shield I picked up @ MoPar Carlisle two years ago. I plan to attend this year's C @ C but, (big Secret) I might not have time to search for the passenger side.

Veteran Posts: 223 Location: Woodcrest California | Usually on the manual steering cars this linkage bolts to the column but in this case it's impossible for the linkage to mount to the p/s unit so there has to be a bracket mounted to the frame that holds the shifter linkage under the p/s box. I need a close up but cannot seem to get a hold of the owner of the car in the pictures.

(let me go back into my old mail see if I can 'fetch' it for you. Don't hold your breath,,,,,,,,,) I do remember him telling me it was 'fasened' to the steering sector. Sorry.
