I spent a lot of time getting my Hedmann headers to fit. Now, the exhaust guy says they dump too close to the center link and arms and he won't hook them up. Bummer.

I would like hp manifolds. There's a few 440 Hp manifolds for sale on on the net. If someone here could tell what will work I would greatly appreciatte it.

1962 Chrysler Newport 361. I already have the smaller starter.

Thank you!

Your 1962 Chrysler engine/ car Exhaust Manifold combo is the same if it was an 2 bbl 361 to the
4 bbl'd 413's or the 413 used in the Imperial Division since they all have the same part number's.

When Dodge Tucks started with the CSS-HPP's they too used the same units . I may be "Preaching
to The Choire" for you probly know all this.

The Right Side is easy to exchange. It is the driver's side which is the problem. For the driver's side
where is the origanal dump located - in the Center or about 3/4's of the way back ???

I'll look tomorrow at the dump.

Would 440 HP manifolds work? I remember the original manifolds looking like the log type, it would be nice to have someething better than that.

Castiron manifolds are a huge step back opposed to headers.
Isn't the exhaust-guy capable enough to just modify the headers so they clear everything?

I have installed a set of Heddman shorty headers on my '60 NY without much issues besides the driversside engine mount needing a little grinding.

Sounds like you need to find another exhaust guy. Sure, it won't be easy to hook up, but I've done it on a 440 which is ALOT tighter than a 361. Dude, stick with the headers. Manifolds are for junk.

Do you have a B block or an RB? I wonder if an RB sits up higher to raise the collectors up?

No, he can't modify the headers.

Other info: original manifolds :
Drivers side dumps halfway/middle.
Passenger side dumps about 3/4 back.

Do a search, as there are members here including myself that have run headers on 440 which are RB engines.
"1959dodge" "Dukeboy" have threads with pics. It's tight, but can be done if your exhaust guy is willing to work. If he's looking for quick, easy money, then find another guy.
