Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | Here is a pic of the clutch that I pulled out last night. I'm doing a bandaid repair as funds are low and I had a new disc on the bench. I just sanded the PP and flywheel and installed new disc. I'm getting ready to stab the tranny and be able to maybe take this car to the Petit Jean Mtn swap meet this week. Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | I buttoned up the clutch this morning and replaced a tire . Then it was time to find out more about this car. It still has carb problems but I was able to drive it for about an hour this afternoon. I really had a good time till I ran out of gas at a major intersection in rush hour afternoon traffic. A couple of guys at the gas station helped me push into a car wash. People don't know what to think about this '61. Their facial expressions tells the story,"what the hell is that" ? I also received a package this afternoon with some Goodies. This car has been brought back to life on a shoestring budget. I've cleaned the tank, replaced fuel line and filter, R and R clutch disc, changed oil and filter, 1 used tire, 2 NORS tail light len's, 2 tail light bulbs. Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | What does it mean when the gas gauge reads "E". I rebuilt the sending unit but I thought it didn't work. This morning I put $50 of non-ethanol in it and it reads 1/2. Yea, I have a gas guage that works. Its 68 in Little Rock and getting ready for the swap meet. The more I drive it the better it runs.

Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | Well I dorve back and forth From LR to Petit Jean and logged a cpl. hundred miles over 2 days. However the new 10 yr old NEW tires are starting to separate. AS soon as I parked the car at Petit Jean they flocked around it and always had a crowd around it most of the day. People got upset that I wouldn't sell it. I've gotta rebuid the carb and go through the brakes but it was a blast to drive it. Frumpy held his own!!!

Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | Here are some updated pic of some emblems and head light rings. The bling sure makes Frumpy look better. I've been treating the dash with a leather conditioner to help preserve a nice option. Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | /6's will run 70-80 all day long. They used this motor up to the late 80's. The '62 dodge station wagon they made @ 70,000 units and @68,000 were /6's. Got that info from the HAMB.The dash being in this shape after spending its whole life in Dallas,Texas.

Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | I'm going to pick up this car tomorrow. Chrysler Corp sure didn't give me much option for placement of these antenna's because the trunk lid is so wide and the side drop off so quickly. But hey, I'll have dual rears on my '61 2dr HT.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 8445 Location: Perth Australia | I have a similar problem with my 60 plym I think with that style of base, its about the only place they will fit. By the way, I have to ask, did you buy it just for the antennas?

Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | ttotired - 2012-10-19 10:22 AM Sorta!!! I just have pics of it and know nothing about it. I been told the floor pans have rust holes. I'm going to get it home and see what I really bought. Dual rear antenna's are VERY VERY rare on a '61.I have a similar problem with my 60 plym I think with that style of base, its about the only place they will fit. Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | I thought I would post pics of my 2nd '61 parts car that came with some goodies and more sheet metal that I need. If someone has a parts book maybe you could tell me what these parts # fit. These are the #'s off of the antenna bases. 1838148 and 1838149 I found the T-Bucket not far from the Belve but it wasn't for sale. Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | I worked all day on my new '61 4dr parts car. The antenna's wire and splitter are now safe from critters. I started drilling out the spot weld in the trunk so I can get the trunk pan out in 1 piece. This is going to take some time. I got some better head light rings. They're not perfect but a whole lot better than what I've been collecting. I also pulled off some of the chrome to replace the dented pieces on my HT. I guess it's time to learn how to weld with my Miller Matic wire welder. I spayed down the cyl's with PB blaster as the mtr. is stuck. The cig. lighter has never been used. If anyone is looking for some '61 4dr parts give me a call. Edited by oldwood 2012-10-22 9:28 AM

Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | Today, I took a trip up in the Ozarks to see and old friend and attend an electric fan gathering. Since my last post I've rebuilt the carb and its a whole lot better and pulled my WWW off of my '60 Savoy to take this trip. It ran really well for what little work I've done to it. It is using some oil so I'm going to try some "sea foam" and see if that will help. To get away from the rat race and my Rental problems this trip sure lightened the load in my head. These pics are from a gravel road mountain view. I got the OK from the land owner and I pulled it down in 1st and up Frumpy went. The pics don't show the size of this mountain but I had my doubts about making it up and then sliding back down. What do you do at those conventions; just shoot the breeze, or get long winded? Is being a fan redundant? Edited by d500neil 2012-11-03 9:06 PM

I've been stripping out the 2nd '61 parts car. My 1st welding job with my Millermatic211 will be to install the trunk pan out of both parts cars. I need both trunk pans to have 1 good one.Great photos, Dorsey! I'm a big 'fan' of Frumpy! Those www's really set the car off, she's a looker! Pete

Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | I really appreciate everyone's kind words. When I bought this car I knew I didn't need another car. I need to finish some of my others. But(you knew there had to be a but)Frumpy needed a new home. The little slanty just loves to run. Sonics last car show of the year is this weekend here in Little Rock. This car hasn't been seen around thses parts so I'm sure it will get the attention that it deserves. I'll be sure and get pics of the gawkers!!!

Extreme Veteran Posts: 466 Location: Vancouver, Washington | i had a 61 Chev bubble top. Neat cars...i really love the big three's 61 renditions, they all had very sporty roof line in their two door hardtops. That Plymouth looks awes there, now just need a Dodge, and a 61 Starliner to complete the gathering...looks like you had plenty of fun there.

Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | Here is a picture of the 2nd owners dad sometime in the 90's when it was in storage. The head light rings are cut in this photo also. This pic shows it to have beauty rings with the dog dish's. Were the rings a option. The rings are not shown on the original window sticker. The son of the 2nd owner just sent me this photo from Dallas,TX. It is neat to get more documentation. Location: Parts Unknown | Dorsey, I meant to ask earlier, ... does that beast run a 10" clutch ? Is it adequate for the 6 cyl. app ? My local parts store kept pushing 10 inchers on me when I rebuilt the 60 DeSoto. It would shred them in light driving. Broke 2 centers out and one came apart at the rivets. I finally found someone who knew the apps better and got a proper 12" clutch. Never had another issue with it.

Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | Well it is FINALLY back together and I have been terrorizing the City of Little Rock. All new brakes, wheels blasted and powder coated and paint coded, new tires, and my Aero wheel. The tires are too small but for $120.00 mounted and balanced I can at least drive it. If anyone cares, you can use an Aero wheel on a non-power steering car with a 3 on da tree. I almost forgot about 3 of my headlight rings that I had straightened. They are not perfect but better than nothing.
