Subject: Transmission Cooler Hookup

I am restoring a 1961 Ghia L 6.4 (Italian-bodied car built with mainly Mopar mechanicals). The car has an A-488 cast iron Torqueflite transmission (casting number 1854220-6); a picture is below. I need to know which of the two ports with brass fittings in the upper left of the picture is the feed line to the transmission cooler, and which is the return line from the cooler. Thanks! I have a feeling the lower is the return into the pan. The upper going to the cooler. It shouldn't matter either way round will work unless you are installing a filter.

If the fittings on the radiator are along the bottom of the radiator, the location does not matter, if the are vertical on the side of the tank it does as the lower part of the radiator is cooler.
