Extreme Veteran Posts: 362 Location: North Carolina | Does anyone have gatherings of Forward Look cars in the North Carolina area? It would be nice if all the N.C. owners would post a photo or two on this thread, so I can see what is local. Since I am fairly new to this site, I am not aware of all the owner's cars and it's difficult to find some of the original postings of pics. Thanks, I'll start first. Expert Posts: 4589 Location: Northern New Jersey | Mark, Many of the Local Chapters of the various Mopar Clubs usually hold Holiday gatherings. I know of the WPC, National Desoto Club and the National Chrysler Products Club having Parties, and Gatherings throughout the Year. Steve

Extreme Veteran Posts: 362 Location: North Carolina | Oh yeah, and thanks for the comments. The steering wheel is really nice, very little cracking. The whole dash was amazingly clean. Do you ever drive your cars and think, "Wow, this is awesome."? Sometimes I drive by a mirrored building so I can see me in the car. Lol, I'm telling on myself.

Elite Veteran Posts: 907 Location: Magra, Sweden | Your steering wheel is awesome, looks like new, never seen one as good as yours in a 55-56 Dodge. Usually the white cracks and turn yellow. I love the feeling looking at the mirror in building windows, it's wonderful to see my car the way other see it passing, I'm a lucky guy.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 362 Location: North Carolina | Thanks. It was very dirty when I first bought the car. I had to use a good amount of elbow grease, but the steering wheel and dash came out great.

Expert Posts: 1324 Location: Hickory, NC | I'm near Charlotte myself. I've owned a few Forward looks but as of right now I have: My first car, 1957 Plymouth Savoy: and a 1959 DeSoto Firedome: I don't drive anything newer than 1976...and Mopar.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 362 Location: North Carolina | Very nice cars Austin! Do you take it to the Charlotte Auto Fair? I go to a few local shows and concerts with "Lorraine", like the Cash Bash rockabilly show this Friday in Winston-Salem, and the Heavy Rebel Weekender, also in W-S. I don't really like taking it to shows per se, but rather to 50's style events and swing dances. Edited by Kungfupanda 2013-02-21 12:18 AM

Expert Posts: 1324 Location: Hickory, NC | I go to the Autofair every year twice a year. I don't really enter in the show...but I usually drive something to the swapmeet and park in my vendor space. I didnt know of many "50's style " events....atleast I havent heard of any here in Charlotte.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 362 Location: North Carolina | Not sure if you ever drive as far as Winston-Salem or not, but there is a rockabilly weekender there in July called Heavy Rebel Weekender. They have a lot of hotrods, ratrods, some originals and lots of 50's style music...well, some is leaning toward the psychobilly edge. Still, it's the nearest thing to stepping back in time as all the cars are pre-1968 and there are lots of vintage clothes vendors.

Expert Posts: 1324 Location: Hickory, NC | Be sure to keep me posted. Ive driven my '57 Plymouth across the country and back twice...and everywhere in between. I'm not opposed to driving my car anywhere! Are there any good cruise-ins up that way? Or even some old drive-in diners that are worth going to?

Extreme Veteran Posts: 362 Location: North Carolina | I will definitely keep you posted. I see you like 50's music and anything vintage just like I do, so I think you would like the Weekender. There are a couple of cool diners around. This is one in Burlington, NC. Member Posts: 43 | Wow, great shots! I told you your car would be a chick magnet, though Ashley might not be happy about it, lol. Speaking of, I don't see her in the pics. Btw, I may not make it to Heavy Rebel Weekender this year. My family wants to go to Sanibel Island, Fl that week for family vacation. Not sure if they can change it, because it's around my Aunt's schedule, who we are staying with.

Expert Posts: 1324 Location: Hickory, NC | Looks like I'm missing out! Nice group of gals there... Yea me being 23 years old... Most people in my age bracket don't agree with my ideas of music, fashion, or fun! Be nice if there were more folks into the old stuff... Definitely let me know of anything going on. I'm always up for a cruise! -Austin

Extreme Veteran Posts: 362 Location: North Carolina | Sounds good. The Cash Bash in Winston was great, but as it was only about the music, no cars driven there. The next one I know of for sure is Heavy Rebel Weekender in July. http://www.heavyrebel.net/Home.html
