| Hi everyone,
As a U.K./U.S. citizen living in London and holder of a U.K. passport, I can now visit Cuba anytime. I've been going since 2005. What a fabulous place. While there I have met the director of the Hemingway Museum, originally H's home for 22 years. Recently, after 18 years of a mysterious disappearance, his car was discovered... an absolute wreck ... corroded, peeled, crumbling. The museum wanted to restore it to its original condition and asked me if I could help locate and secure the parts which are not available in Cuba. Since then, we have managed to find a number of original parts from various sources which have been shipped from London to Havana and which are now being used to restore the car. Hopefully, we can get the job done by June as the International Hemingway Conference is scheduled at the end of June in Havana, attended by several hundred aficionados. If you are interested in this project, please let us know at www.redearthstudio.com and also, check this site out: http://www.redearthstudio.com/project/cubansoul/
Thanks,
DAVID SOUL ... Yeah, that's right... from Starsky & Hutch... and yes, I am very much alive! |

Location: NY & VT | Wish all US citizens could go there... I'd love to visit, maybe even stay awhile. You can tell it's a place of passion, it always has been. It'd have been neat to experience the club culture in the 50s.
Welcome, David, and thanks for your great work in preserving this great car owned by a true literary icon.

Location: Parts Unknown | This really is a remarkable and historic car. Thank you for your work to help preserve it.
I too would like to spend time in Cuba. The politics have done a quite a job on putting the
place in a "deep freeze" in terms of cool old stuff.

Location: North Australia | Cant seem to find much on the car David is helping to restore.
I did find this.
However, despite Soul's best efforts, some parts have been delayed due to customs snags, while others, like a fuel tank, have proven difficult to locate. The plan had been to debut the hour-long film this June in time for the 14th Hemingway Colloquium in Havana, but the delays will result in a later release.
I recon most of us can sympathise with this situation!
Steve.
