Location: Oley, PA | Very cool article. While we know the 1958 Electrojector was a failure, the concept was sound. 55 years later, this is the basic design that is used in nearly every vehicle sold today. |

For a long time makers were using port style EFI, like here. But in the past couple years, EFI has been changing, now referred to as direct injection. Now the newer engines are using injectors that spray fuel at couple thousand psi directly into the combustion chamber, like a diesel. Injectors now have to seal in compression. Manufactures have gone back to mounting an engine driven mechanical fuel pump along with the pump in the tank. |
