Location: Valley Forge, Pa. | I'm probably the only one, but, if anyone else has had problems finding front shocks for their fulsized 1957-61 MOPARs, here is what I eventually found.
I went to Advance, Pep Boys, CarQuest and looked on-line but no one showed a front shock for my fullsize 1960 Plymouth. I found a guy selling a pair on Ebay. Fit great with no alterations of the bushing. No name on box or shock but the shock had #739072 on it. Looked it up with no quick results. Finally tracked it down as an old Gabriel gas shock # and it exchanged to #82072. Punched in Gabriel #82072 and it came up at several locations to fit 1957-61 Plymouth & Dodge fullsize.
Who knows, maybe one other person out there couldn't find shocks and this may be some help to them?

I have a 1959 Parts book which shows every division. For shock's the same part number is used from Plymouths to The Imperial Division.
Take one of yours to a NAPA Auto Store and they "will match" what you bring in using spec's.

There is a Jap brand who sell good gas shocks for our cars, it required some minimum modification. KYB KG4507, just have to narrow the mounting tube a bit. |

I had thought people were using shocks from a '72-'73 C-body for these. I haven't owned my '57 long enough to verify though. Mopars starting sometime in the 60s, after '60, have wider lower shock mounts. So that app would probably work with the mounting tube narrowed |

I know when I was originally looking, I was told I can use certain shocks and simply cut or grind down the mounting bushings and they will fit. That is where I was going to go but these drop straight in with no changes. You mentioned these were listed for use in 62-65 also? Probably just a hair narrower or the amount you would need to grind off to fit the 1962-65 to my car? |

Location: New Castle PA | I believe Gabriel Gas Ryder 69699 will also fit right on. That's what I have on my 1957 DeSotos, and I don't remember having to grind anything to make them fit.

| Have 1 last pair of N.O.S. Delco Pleasurizers -- the top of the line shock on the planet in the early 1970s -- first shock that ever sold for more than $20 each back in 1973!!!!

Location: atlanta | No, I'm actually double dyslexic, one eye forward, one eye reverse, so it really depends which eye i squint, that ought to have someone scratchin' their head. I can see everyone trying to figure this out with a pencil and paper.

Location: atlanta | I put the 82072 gas shocks on the front of my 61 Plymouth, not thinking to see if they were the same, the new ones look longer in the body, the ons that came off were very short, like 10 inch body. Now I'm wondering if they are gonna bottom out and do some damage, damm I hate to take them back out. |
