Quite possibly the best thread I've ever seen on this entire forum - very well done, PlyFury, very well done.

Thanks for sharing and I am also a no-interstate kind of guy/traveling amateur Americana historian - you captured it very well.

All this talk of others wanting to do it - WE should set a date - two or three years out - and DO THIS!

Can you imagine a convoy of FLs on old 66?????????

There was quite a few times I looked at the thermometer and saw it read 100! it was really easy to go fast. She did like cruisin at high speeds!

Glad you made it back safe, with that ice storm on your heels.

Thanks for posting all the great photos, maybe a bunch of us here could get together on a road trip sometime!!

Would an '88 Chrysler 5th Avenue be acceptable on the road trip? I could carry some '60 Plymouth parts that I have for sale in the trunk just legitimize my presence on the tour.
That would be fun!!!

In '59 Chrysler provided some 2 dr GC cars to the VA hiway Patrol for "testing". Tho they were far faster that the F88ds & Ch88y and were returned to ChryCo in less than favorable condition, "the roof line was too low and the patrolman can't wear their hats" was the reason for not buying PLYM for a few years. I recall hearing about one of the top speed tests but it's too long for me to write.

Thanks for a very good thread! The idea to go along route 66 in proper cars together is brilliant.
Decide time and Place!
A bunch of Swedes are interested if they are welcome of course.
Thanks for sharing great pics!

Mopar Dave I pulled that photo off the net just so folks could visualize your car.

While I'm a fan of the 5 Aves, there aint one in my garage....Kate's the only MOPAR there....

......and she'd love to represent the much hated Red and White contingent on our tour of old 66!

I am drooling over this car

Did anyone actually try and arrange the cross country trip?

You would perhaps have to arrange 2, 1 from the east and 1 from the west and meet in the middle

Depending on how things go over the next few days, maybe this car will be on another long un accompanied trip (unless junkyard tech stowed away)

He could come over here and have some real Australian beer

A trip with legs from the west and legs from the east with a meet in the middle sounds kinda neat.

The cross country drive should be planned. It would be a lot of fun to have a bunch of FL cars meet up after a good long trip to some great location.

The Carlisle 2015 for Forward Look cars needs to be attended in mass #'s by all of us. I don't figure I have that many more years left and I missed the Tulsa hoop-lah. This Carlisle 2015 show for FL cars maybe my last chance. NO EXCUSES!!! Lets all make plans to make this show.

Beautiful 60. I had one myself; a white 60 Fury 2 door hardtop with red interior, Golden Commando, sure wish I still had it.
