Veteran Posts: 279 Location: Klein, TX | I know that all the expert folks on this reflector are very quick to point out the poor work that has or will be done by the folks working on my car, but I have complete faith in their abilities and I feel fairly sure that they have done a number of jobs that were beyond what I or any of the other "experts" on this board are capable of. As they say, the proof is in the pudding and I've seen there work on quite a few cars and it is great. Enough said.

Veteran Posts: 279 Location: Klein, TX | I appreciate all of the help that this site has provided and hopefully will have the chance to meet you at some event in the future. For now, I think I will close any further updates on the car. Thanks once again to all within the FL group.

You are correct that some tend to nit pick a bit, but thats how you learn and if what theyre saying isnt something your worried about, just say so Be a shame not to see it come together Its a 2 way street some learn off you, you learn off some

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | And...this warrants its own GEN DISc thread.....but most (-if not all) and (virtually-) all independent mechanics are Prima Donas about their 'lording' their importance, as if they are doing you a favor, about working on your humble, insignificant project. I've had Mopar experiences since 1980, and have experienced and heard about painters & mechanics who are MORE than willing to tell 'us' about how important they are, and how, since your car is not a Chubbie, it doesn't warrant (much of) their important attention or RESPECT. Try asking 'your' shop some suggestion or procedural-request about the job, or its protocols, and watch their response. A MoPar oriented shop can be arrogant, for sure, but, at least they have experience with protocols, like ensuring that the car's body panels all align properly, before the body is painted.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 8445 Location: Perth Australia | To dig myself into a hole here Neil, have you read my dodge build? I repaire and painted everything off the car and for my level of skill, it was a mistake Now I am an indipendant car (well trucks mostly) repairer as well, but I dont think I am any sort of "prima dona" and I do not go around "lording my importance" When I do my plymouth, it will be panels on when it comes to painting, But you have no idea wether the panels were trial fitted and aligned prior to final paint prep or not (something I didnt do) With enough protection around door openings ect, it would not be that hard to fit the panels without scratching them. Just so you know, the dodge was the first car I ever did like that, all others, I normally did "panels on", but this car was that bad that I thought it better to do it panels off to try and give the metalwork some protection under places like door hinges ect If I hadnt, I would have had the nagging thought in the back of my mind that the unsprayed metal was being eaten up
