Too bad that 'they' decided to blast-over the trunk's asphaltic deader material. Those aren't 57 US Dodge rear view mirrors on it, either.

The rear view mirrors on it now are the optionnal twin strut mirrors that were available across the board on any model in 1957 and 1958 through dealership order in Canada. That's what both 57 and 58 Chryco accessories brochures say. I have the same mirrors on my 58 Regent and I've seen them on very low-line cars too (Plaza and Crusader models). As far as the interior, yes the patterns are similar to US royal, but as far as I know, the cloth is the same as US 57 Desoto Firedome. Ed, care to chime in on this? Expert 5K+ Posts: 7207 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | So the car does have the correct cloth material, done in the US built Royal pattern, but apparently with DeSoto fabric! Edited by imopar380 2014-05-29 12:09 AM

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Also notice that the CAN CRL dash (apparently) can have only its upper area painted in the 'interior' color (like the US Coronets & Royal models), or that it can get that paint applied in both the upper and the lower areas (like the US CRL's have on them).

Expert Posts: 2788 Location: USA - KY | That is a beautiful car, Ian! I did not see that interior anywhere in the large, vintage 1957 Desoto dealer's paint/fabric book that I have? Could it have been a special order fabric?

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | No; I dunno what the official name is, for that fabric, but its styling was standard to the 1957 CAN CRL hardtops. There's another interesting GEN DISC thread : "Name your Upholstery (style)"! [Also; note Rob's car's 3-tone paint scheme; US only had 1 or 2 tone paint-schemes]. Expert Posts: 1906 Location: Ontario, Canada | Neil, I notice that you said "styling". Have you seen other colours for that pattern of cloth or vinyls ? BTW, the CDN, 57 CRL paint code for white/yellow/black is:3021. The trim code is KBH for that particular vinyl/cloth and colour combination. Do you have Robs paint and trim codes? It would be interesting to get it. My tri-tone codes start at 3001 and consecutively go to 3026 with no mention of red yet. My "codes" stop at page 1. There was at least a page 2. This was a topic of a much earlier thread. I could photograph my page 1 and email it to anyone who is interested. Greg

Expert Posts: 1906 Location: Ontario, Canada | Hey, I wasn't born yesterday!!! I bought that car from Norm way back in the 80s so of course I have history of that car but I know nothing about it's present condition. I just have to wonder why it is being offered for sale so cheap!!! Greg

I should have photo'd the P/T plate...even if I gots a hard time with the Canadian FWDLK 'dialect'. You can PM Rob via a search for his nom de Car : RedRam on this site. He hasn't posted for a couple years. No, i haven't seen other 57 CAN CRL interiors; I used to have a brochure on them, though. PM sent..... Edited by d500neil 2014-05-30 2:24 AM

Ed, care to chime in on this? I took samples of all the interior materials to Tom Ames (Original Auto Interiors) and bought what his master fabric/vinyl large sample books showed as being correct for CDN Dodge. I don't remember anything about Desoto. I assume that whatever I bought was installed as shown today. The interior was( as I recall) in pretty good shape so whoever sewed it up had nice patterns to work with. Again, as I recall, that car had a padded dash, electro-touch radio, rear speaker and rear deck antennae. Greg
