Wow!

What a great car - Spring Special, power windows and seats, - safety group, light group, bumper group? (just on the back?) - all that and it is a Custom Royal!

He also has a 1954 Plymouth, 1950 Dodge, and a 1959 Dodge Lancer coupe!

Very nice interior, but hardly "flawless".

The mold formation on all four doors is troublesome, as far as its origination and the further extent of it, in/on the car.

I'd like to see the full extent of the headliner's condition.

Good B-I-N price, however.

Love it!! The interior is fabulous, rich looking, even with the "flaws". Neil, any ideas why the Custom Royal sedans used completely different interiors from the hardtops?
The dash-board re-cover job has been poorly done, look close.

AFAIK, Dodge didn't offer a brown or tan dash top, in 58, so, if-so, I wonder what color this car's padded dash color was?

The sedans are always finished in different upholstery styles, from the HT's.

In 57, the CR sedans had "Celestial" pattern cloth; the HT's have "Stacatto" pattern.

Just noticed the mold, on the driver's side arm rest, too.

Ain't afraid of "mold", but it forms from humid atmospheric conditions, so gotta wonder about the headliner and carpeting contamination, if
the stuff has formed on the arm rests(???!!) and on the lower door vinyl.

Shame that it's not OEM A/C, too....you need that, to have happy rear seat occupants.

Love the mix of 2 types of fabric rather than the usual vinyl & fabric... looks very rich and elegant! A beautiful vintage interior and car.

Dodge offered a brown dash pad in 1958. This one appears to have been replaced, but the color is very close.

Close dash color, but this ain't horse shoes or hand grenades on its installation quality.

Agreed. This is such a well-optioned car I asked Dan, the owner, for a picture of the data plate. It is coded "492" for the shaded sun visors, which is an unusual sight. Interestingly, it is not coded for the safety group (which included the padded dash) or the bumper group - which probably explains the lack of front spuds, but other options are probably on the broadcast sheet.

Wow; just noticed the P/T plate image.

Too bad about the mold deposition on this car; probably it's got into the carpeting and headliner, and maybe behind the dashboard,
but, at any rate, this is one of the heaviest-ly optioned 1958's I've ever seen.

About all that it's lacking is the D500 engine (which option was probably not attractive to its wealthy and elderly purchaser,
because he certainly could have afforded it, if he wanted it).

He also eschewed the flamboyance of dual antennae on HIS car.

Probably special-ordered and/or sent to an affluent dealership, because it's received New Car Service, for immediate drive-away, at the
dealership.

It was delivered to the dealership via Truck.

Built o.o.a. 6/22/58, so its mid-year+ and obviously well constructed, and taken care of, albeit stored for some
prolonged time in an enclosed, humid environment.

This is the first "262" TRM code (CR sedan) I've ever seen, but I've got a "282" Sand & Beige Custom Sierra wagon in the files.

Where to begin; in no particular order:

It may not be evident in the photos, but in addition to the power windows, this guy has a power seat.

So, why not A/C; it's got that too.

The Holy Trinity, and in a sedan where such amenities are fully appreciated.

It's got the Appearance Group: 2-tone steering wheel, PLAIN wheel covers (conservative, like its interior/exterior) stone shields and a clock.

Power brakes.

Factory Spring Special trim (he wasn't completely humorless, and maybe caught up in the moment, with the salesman)

The Radio Group: Heater/defroster, B-U lights, LT O.S. mirror (the RT side is optioned separately, and shown on the Broadcast Sheet and on its
IBM Build card, Day/Night mirror, and a push-button radio.

Rear ("Vertical") bumper guards (in lieu of not having the 'Bumper Appearance Group').

TorqueFlite trannie.

Convenience Group: foam RR seat (foam Ft seat is standard on the CR's), variable speed wipers, Jiffy Jet, and the hand-brake, glove box,
and trunk lights, and the Vanity Mirror.

Full Solex (which is a mandatory option with A/C, but this guy's got a shaded W/S, too).

Undercoating (which includes a fiberglass hood mat, instead of the 57's more expensive Undercoating being applied to it).

And, it's even got one "Mystery code" on it, that's also been applied to another CRL 2-dr HT, according to my files.

So, this car was probably bought by a wealthy, conservative, man, who had a long (family) history of buying Dodge products.

It would have been fun to be present when he took possession of it, although he probably didn't make a big fuss over the transaction.

You say it's coded for A/C? Someone must have removed every bit if it.

I cant see any evidence of it having A/C

No compressor and no stray lines in the engine bay?

DAYUUUM!!

I was all set to say something like: here's some research information that I don't like to divulge...here's the A/C code..

But, it's NOT there (coded)!

Sh!t; Oh; who cares; mea culpa: the A/C code is the second from the far-left on the P/T plate...and it IS 'blank'....so, no A/C on this ride.

Mr. Rich Owner had all those amenities...except for A/C; probably grew up without it, and certainly didn't need it, 'then'.

Even today, know an Old-School MoParist who 'refuses' to turn on his car's A/C system...of course, he's DRIVING his car, and can't seem to appreciate the suffering of his passengers....doesn't, even, like to open the sun roof 'headliner' (in his Heritage 300C).
