G'day,

I'm looking for the rear two side mouldings pieces for my 1962 Custom 880 Coupe. The stainless is the same as used on 1960 Cars. I think I'll have a greater chance of finding the pieces off a 1960 than a 1962, both almost imposible.

Does anyone out there have a 60 Coupe and can they tell me the length of this piece? I will compare the length to the piece used on the 880,

thanks in advance

You sure they are the same

The 60 one tapers into a point, the one for the 62, not so much?

I have (what I think) is a bit of 61, maybe 62 moulding and it has a black line through the middle of it, but what I have would be a 4 door as it was attached to some 60 phoenix stuff I got

The 62 Dodge 880 has different side moldings from the 1960 Matador / Polara.

its exactly the same stuff!
only difference is the 60 matador sedan we wrecked had the sharp points on the rear and the blunter points on the front. 880 has sharp points on front and rear. profile is exact! by joining the rear piece of the 60 to the front door i can achieve the same result.
problem is i have only one sharp point as not all the trim was still on the matador sedan! I hope you have this piece Mick :-) will pm you!

1960 Polara

The 62 Dodge 880 side moldings run under the door handle, while on the 60 Polara/Matador they run through the door handles. Door pieces are different, ( shorter) even if they are the same profile.

yep I knew this but thanks for the photo. it helps.
from the photo the 62 880 has the blunt points at the back. not sharp points on both ends as I first thought. this means I have enough trim by using the two blunt pieces from the matadors front and join them to to pieces cut from the matador sedans door.

incidently you also have solved a mystery, we have 3 blunt pieces, one is slightly shorter, this piece could have come off ebay, maybe from an 880 sedan.
it shows how they re-used so much stuff for the 62 880. stole bits from 60 & 61 dodge as well as 62 newport and new yorker. it was a clever idea to use the pointy rear of the 60 matador trim to match the crease in the 61 dodge front!

Yeah, they used the 61 New Yorker rear gills ( half of them) for the front fender of the 880 as well.
