Extreme Veteran Posts: 354 Location: Louisiana | There's a carcass of a '58 Fireflite 2 dr (only the body from the firewall on back) that appears to have the roof moldings I've been seeking since 2004. Too bad it's so far away from Louisiana.

Veteran Posts: 188 | I fully realize that probably no one of these cars will be restored, but at least I hope these cars will be kept for parts. It will be very sad if they go to the crusher especially since so many salvage yards were closed recently. The salvage yards will be only a history after few years and that is very very sad!

The numbers are the picture index, and it seems they are the lot numbers too. I apologize for some of the cars (1955/56 Chrysler/Dodge mainly) that I can't recognize, I don't know them very well... 1 - 1959 Chrysler Windsor htp cpe 2 - 1955 Dodge Royal 4d sdn 3 - 1960 Imperial 4d sdn 4 - 1957 DeSoto 4d sdn 5 - 1955 DeSoto Fireflite 4d sdn 6 - 1961 Plymouth 4d sdn 8 - 1959 Plymouth Belvedere 2d sdn 9 - 1959 Plymouth 4d sdn 11 - 1956 DeSoto Firedome 4d sdn 13 - 1960 Chrysler htp cpe 14 - 1955 Chrysler htp cpe 15 - 1958 DeSoto Firesweep 4d sdn 16 - 1956 Dodge 4d sdn 17 - 1958 Chrysler 4d sdn 18 - 1958 DeSoto Fireflite htp cpe 19 - 1957 Dodge Coronet 4d sdn 20 - 1957 Chrysler New Yorker 4d sdn 21 - 1955 Dodge 4d sdn 24 - 1955 Dodge Royal htp cpe 25 - 1958 DeSoto Firedome 4d sdn 28 - 1962 Imperial htp sdn 29 - 1956 Dodge 4d sdn 32 - 1962 Chrysler New Yorker 4d sdn 33 - 1961 Plymouth Suburban 4d wgn 34 - 1962 Chrysler 300 htp sdn 35 - 1957 Dodge Custom Royal 4d sdn 37 - 1957 Plymouth Suburban 4d wgn 40 - 1956 Dodge Custom Royal 4d sdn 41 - 1955 Plymouth Savoy 4d sdn 42 - 1956 Dodge Coronet 4d sdn 43 - 1957 Dodge 4d sdn 44 - 1956 Dodge Coronet htp cpe 45 - 1956 DeSoto Firedome 4d sdn 46 - 1959 Plymouth 4d sdn 47 - 1958 Chrysler New Yorker 4d sdn 48 - 1958 Chrysler Windsor 4d sdn 54 - 1955 Chrysler 4d sdn 56 - 1957 DeSoto Fireflite htp sdn 60 - 1955 Chrysler 4d sdn 61 - 1960 Dodge Dart Pioneer htp cpe 65 - 1961 Chrysler New Yorker 4d sdn 67 - 1957 Dodge 4d sdn 68 - 1955 Dodge Coronet 4d sdn 69 - 1962 Chrysler Newport htp sdn 75 - 1962 Chrysler Newport htp cpe 76 - 1960 Dodge Polara 4d sdn 80 - 1960 Dodge 4d wgn 82 - 1959 Chrysler Windsor 4d sdn 83 - 1956 Chrysler htp cpe 84 - 1957 Chrysler New Yorker htp sdn 85 - 1960 Imperial Crown htp sdn 87 - 1961 Imperial htp sdn 89 - 1956 Plymouth 4d sdn 90 - 1956 DeSoto Firedome 4d sdn 91 - 1957 Dodge 4d sdn 92 - 1959 Plymouth Belvedere 4d sdn 96 - 1956 Dodge Coronet 4d sdn 98 - 1955 Chrysler htp cpe 101 - 1956 Chrysler New Yorker htp cpe 102 - 1956 DeSoto Firedome 4d sdn 103 - 1959 Dodge Coronet htp sdn 105 - 1955 DeSoto Fireflite 4d sdn 107 - 1959 Dodge 109 - 1957 Plymouth Belvedere htp sdn 114 - 1955 Plymouth Savoy 4d sdn 116 - 1957/58 Dodge 4d sdn 117 - 1962 Chrysler Newport 4d sdn 118 - 1956 Dodge 4d sdn 119 - 1957 DeSoto Firedome 4d sdn 124 - 1958 Chrysler Saratoga htp sdn 130 - 1958 Chrysler Windsor 4d sdn 132 - 1955 Dodge htp cpe 133 - 1961 Plymouth 4d sdn 144 - 1959 Dodge Coronet 4d sdn Edited by Imp58Alpes 2014-06-26 5:13 PM

Most of these sales will have a minimum bid, which is a rough value of what the current scrap value is, Mike. Scrap brings $150/ton here currently, so a 2 ton car would have a minimum bid of $250-$300. If there are enough Mopar collectors in the area, obviously more parts cars will be saved. A collector car yard like Moore's or perhaps Ron [Highpockets on this site] could do well, if distance is not cost prohibitive. ---John

Extreme Veteran Posts: 354 Location: Louisiana | Is anyone here planning to attend? I see 50 lbs of parts on that dead Fireflite that are easily worth the scrap value and more to me. Perhaps I could find a straw buyer who could make the purchase, strip and ship some parts, and get paid for their time and trouble?

Veteran Posts: 163 Location: SW MO | I am planning on going. It's about a 14 hour drive for me. Schedule subject to change at any moment however. I think this will be a buyer's auction. #1 - due to location, #2 - due to general popularity of subject matter. I have requested an official inventory list from the auction company since the link doesn't work. I have attended several of this company's auctions in recent years. They set a minimum salvage value at the beginning of the auction, which has been $375. That's the minimum bid, and the salvage company gets the car for that price if no bids are made. Some of you may remember the Westville OK auction a few years back. About 400 field cars, most similar to these in condition, all sold in one day. They were dropping the hammer at a rate of about one every 18 seconds in the back few rows.
