There's a carcass of a '58 Fireflite 2 dr (only the body from the firewall on back) that appears to have the roof moldings I've been seeking since 2004. Too bad it's so far away from Louisiana.

I fully realize that probably no one of these cars will be restored, but at least I hope these cars will be kept for parts.
It will be very sad if they go to the crusher especially since so many salvage yards were closed recently.
The salvage yards will be only a history after few years and that is very very sad!

Ugh... Do enough people show up to these that the cars live on, or do the crushers get most?

Most of these sales will have a minimum bid, which is a rough value of what the current scrap value is, Mike. Scrap brings $150/ton here currently, so a 2 ton car would have a minimum bid of $250-$300. If there are enough Mopar collectors in the area, obviously more parts cars will be saved. A collector car yard like Moore's or perhaps Ron [Highpockets on this site] could do well, if distance is not cost prohibitive.

Is anyone here planning to attend? I see 50 lbs of parts on that dead Fireflite that are easily worth the scrap value and more to me. Perhaps I could find a straw buyer who could make the purchase, strip and ship some parts, and get paid for their time and trouble?

I am planning on going. It's about a 14 hour drive for me. Schedule subject to change at any moment however. I think this will be a buyer's auction. #1 - due to location, #2 - due to general popularity of subject matter. I have requested an official inventory list from the auction company since the link doesn't work. I have attended several of this company's auctions in recent years. They set a minimum salvage value at the beginning of the auction, which has been $375. That's the minimum bid, and the salvage company gets the car for that price if no bids are made. Some of you may remember the Westville OK auction a few years back. About 400 field cars, most similar to these in condition, all sold in one day. They were dropping the hammer at a rate of about one every 18 seconds in the back few rows.
